Thinking the same thing. I hope this 5900 series does not blow up on me like the 5950 Ultra bomb I once had and paid $600 for! :ROTF:

come on guys...it's simple.instead of naming 5870x2 it'll be 5970.that's it.no new tech no new bus.just a new name
less mierenneuken jowy!
might similar to the x800 and x850, x1900 and x1950 series
Obviously AMD just want to better differentiate their newest product line up. They never used X900 since the x1900 series and I think it is a good call marketing wise to once again use it. Although the kind of people who buy high end dual gpu cards are at least somewhat informed ( face it a good portion go to high end pc boutiques which cater to wealthy , possibly ill informed buyers )
Nvidia did the whole GTX285/295 thing and I expect the 5870 and 5970 to be the same to the letter ( as in naming and hemlock being R870 at reduced clocks )
5970 is less confusing than 5870x2 if you ask me.
i still dont see any reason to upgrade my ultraclocked 8800gt :P
as long as it runs Crysis at 1680x1050 ultra high at 23 fps average im happy XD [dont mind the sig its outdated i volt modded my gpu :P]
ill probably wait for the next gen when crysis 2 is out ;)
btw 25 fps is playable for me with no jams :D
:/ At what settings... there are plenty of games worth upgrading from a 8800gt, even if you want to stay nvidia.. 260 maxcores are going for just over 100$ and that will improve your perf substantially.
Personally I can't wait to see these iterations of the 5800 series, just waiting for the numbers, and just in time for christmas ^^
i spy 6+8pin connectors
the ruler is placed in a really bad position to be able to actually get a semi-accurate measurement (ruler appears to start even before the end of the rear I/O , but either way, my guess is about 11-11.5"
damn, it's over a foot long, well, unless you've got a custom case you can drop the idea of having this.
Hmmm Didn't ATi back in the day release the X1900 series right on the back of the X1800 series?..... just a thought ;)
