Wow another AMD chip to unlock. Loving it.
Well, my chip is clocking great right now.
At 295x11 at 1.408Vcore.
The problem I had earlier was something weird with the memory divider I was using........right now I am using the 1.33 (533) multiplier
Ah yes I had very similar issues, I'm also using 533MHz and then clocking up from there..
I can't seem to get it prime stable at 3.2GHz though, not sure why as the cores which fail change also but I've had 2 working for 3+ Hours and then reboot and they fail straight away and another 1 or 2 are fine which failed before!
I'm running it like that and have not had any crashes in normal windows use yet, I'm working it if might be the IMC which is the issue but not sure how I could resolve that...
Going to keep testing over the weekend.
I'm tempted to order another one of these CPUs lol... see if it does any better... which will then end up in my other PC :)
With this clocked at 3.2Ghz with 4 cores unlocked (is that realistic?) how would this compare to an Athlon II X4 620 at 3.2Ghz?
I'm considering an upgrade, and this cpu is bundled with a GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H for $115 on newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.271915
I'm told that mobo would unlock the cpu to 4 cores.
I'm asking here for a mate at OCN who for some reason couldnt register here...
how many of you guys have bought the chips from newegg, and which of the guys who did, have been able to unlock it?
If you get 3.2Ghz stable across 4 cores(unlocked mode) I'd say it would be around 10-15% faster overall compared to 3.2Ghz Athlon X4. In games the difference can get higher than 20% ,but that's average fps figure while the most important, the min. fps figure, would not change much since it's the gpu limited at that point(cpu limited is the highest fps figure which is basically irrelevant for anyone except review sites)
I bought two chips from Mwave for $50 each shipped. (OEM tray models). 0936CPMW stepping, 0109 and 0188 were the last 4 on third line.
Both unlocked and ran stable stock, OC'd to 3.3, but best performance with these chips was with ~3.0Ghz on the core because ram clocks massively suffer after that point. I don't think I'm near the limit of the cores though but the x11 multi is crippling everything.
The IMC/NB is very weak on these, they run stock 1.6ghz at the same volts my 940 needs for 2.6Ghz (1.4V is the stock cpu nb-vid on my 5000+'s, the 940's was much lower and I'm overvolting it to 1.4v), and like I said can't clock ram at all once the chip starts to run semi-quick. (could be my board and it's dislike of 300 and greater HT ref clocks, but it will go higher with my full-fledged denebs so I doubt it).
I have a 9550 B3 agena that runs better than these chips, if that helps to put it into perspective. Doesn't clock as high, but will run all day at 3.0 with ram at 1066 and NB at 2.4ghz. These won't.
FYI i'm testing these in a DFI 790FXB-M2RSH, under a TRUE black with 2 fans, and they're driving 4x2GB of patriot viper 1066 DDR2. Vista Ultimate X64. The weak IMC is probably compounded by running 4 dimm's, but I'm sure any chip in the PII/AII line wouldn't have as bad of IMC/NB problems.
Why? My phenom II's work fine with 4 dimms and the memory controller on those is the same revision as on these 5000+'s. That's what I run 24/7.
I have no doubt that the athlons will clock better with only 2 dimms, but it needs to be mentioned that their memory controllers (at least in my examples) are significantly weaker than the ones in higher binned chips.
I can't find the X2 5000 on mwave. Could you post a link?
It's gone now apparently. I have no idea why.
This is the other option I found though: http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=AD5000ODJ
There is people able to unlock the cores and L3 altogether.
Yeah, everything on my chips unlocked.

Multi is really low though, so(for me) stability starts to fall apart after 3-3.1.
Last week buy four Athlon x2 5000+. All processors were unlocked to Phenom FX-5000 Quad-Core:up:.

Two of them is overclocked to 3.3Ghz, by default voltage:

Other two were overclocked to 3.2Ghz and 2.8Ghz, but i don't make a screenshot((.
As you can see, processors with marks CPEW have VID 1,328V and BPMW have VID 1,312V. That strangely enough it was displayed at a dispersal stage on base pressure. Namely that the first and the third were successfully overclocked and were tested on 3,3Ghz, the second on 2,8Ghz, and the fourth through time passed a link on 3,3Ghz.
I got mine unlocked just now to triple core. tried quad but cant boot to windows.
Anyways is it possible to get multiplier above 11x?
nm forgot this was non black edition
Hahaha I find this quite funny. Looks like AMD seems to have some sort of sense of humor in this. They binned some Deneb cores pretty low, sold em as Athlon X2 5000+s and came up with Phenom FX-5000 moniker when they are unlocked.
I mean an FX series with a locked multiplier would sound dumb, unless its sold as a dual core :) That being said, there's obviously no room for an FX line. Until we get some 6-cores :)
I've just purchased one of these for around usd 51 (box version), using it with magic pro motherboard, it to has unlocked the 4 cores and L3 caches memory, what I want to know are these unlockable features true quad core and L3 caches memories. when put against a true quad core cpu with L3, does the X2 5000 really take full advantage of the extra core and L3.
also upto now there are about 7 batches of CPU with certain serial number are able to be fully unlocked.
kms
It works just like a typical Quad Core
Best deal hands down on any CPU at this moment. I picked up one from Newegg 2 weeks ago that's running all 4 cores @ 3.26Ghz(296x11). I just ordered another for the hell of it. Running both on dual ASRock A790GXH/128M mobo's. With deals like this, I'll wait to upgrade to DDR3.
BTW, solid CPU. I have one running a VM with F@H and pushing 5100 PPD. Not bad for a $65.00 CPU and considering that my 3.6GHZ Q9550 only produced 6K PPD in same set-up.

Lol pretty neat. Buying an X2 CPU and just unlock it with 4 cores and some extra L3 cache :D
I'm considering also an CPU-upgrade, right now its the older X2 5200+ 2.6GHz @ 3.2GHz, alot of info i see in here complies with ocíng my CPU, the internal memory controller just boots out at a certain speed. Higher voltage does'nt do nothing at all.
Hey!
I buy two A64 X2 5000+ processors. Both are manufactured in week 35.
They overclocked to 2.7Ghz. Tips for the 3Ghz?
Cool name, Phenom FX-5000 :)
Still thinking about getting this. What motherboard did everyone get?
Lots of people used the US2H gigabyte motherboard.
I finally decided to order, picked up the 5000+ and a US2H motherboard from newegg. Keeping my fingers crossed...
It was like $144 for the cpu and mobo...if I decided to go with either the Phenom II X2 or X3 it would've been at least $190, and then to go with Core i5 it would've been at least $400, so I think I made out pretty well...well then again we'll see if it unlocks first
