Wow. I guess the only question is, will it support DX10 by launch?
Wow. I guess the only question is, will it support DX10 by launch?
I haven't?
Go read through the 90 page thread on the MSI 7411 / Diva at avsforum and then try to convince me. It's a 10 month old mobo with features that are unique and unreleased on any other board.... and the Divas are dying left/right/centre.
AMD's mistake with the Diva was using MSI.
The good thing is that intel will push other manufacturers to use hydra if MSI stuffs this one up too.
85% scaling or higher in every game and I'm sold.
nv just kill PhysX with a ati & nv cards, you don't think they'll kill this to
That was a huge suprise :)
Why I think this is bad technology.....
only MSI chose to do it......need i say more? ASUS, GIGABYTE, eVGA all would have done this as well if it was actually going to work, MSI probably slapped the chip on the board without even testing it, have you guys read the reviews of their x58 boards?
this Lucid chip is only about 2 years too late to the market
right now it's not needed really
mixing nvidia and ati is the only reason why i'd see a use for it but you wont see driver support for such a mix for a little while yet
unless this chip provides some better performance for regular Xfire/SLI i dont see what is so special honestly
i know matey
but we need to see it in practice
i was talking about the g70, and other than the cheap voltage regulators on the fan headers its doing great and dose ram like a dfi board.
the hydra is supposed to have more data manipulation abilities than the plx, so it cant be worse than the nf200 that is just a slot controller with power usage problems. look at the bright side. and imagine if some1 with larger market share tried it like asus, gigabyte or evga that people will buy on name even if its complete garbage reliability and problems (and the 680i had just that with evga and people kept buying)
and saaya had some info on foxconn thinking about using it when he was there, i dont know if he would be allowed to comment
Might be wrong, but I heard a rumor this board may not be released. I guess we'll have to wait and see..
unfortunatelly, this chip is not that MAGIC we expected ... on this board has only function as common PCIe switch ... forget for mixed Multi GPU or some special ... here are 3x PCIe x16 nothing more :(
if it can do 3x 16xPCIe thats huge for P55 chipset boards!!!
i cant wait for this to come out, i hope it is all that it claims to be. then i can get rid of my bastard card, the 4850x2
So cool! Thanks for the post!
No, it can't.
Hydra 100 has 1x16 upstream port and 2x16 downstream ports. So possible configurations are:
x16+x16 or x16+x8+x8 or x8+x8+x8+x8.

so 4x4890 running at 8x speed? :)
If this is real and works fine then there will be other motherboard brands equipped with Lucid Hydra aslo.
isnt it 16x pci-e2.0 coming from the cpu, and the hydra is supposed to be able to duplicate data and work as a bridge for slot to slot transfers
8x pci-e2.0 speed is fine for the 4890 thats the same as 16x pci-e1.1
and u guys are forgetting that this on the p55 the p55 is the midrange and mainstream the people with 4 cards are supposed to be on the 1366 and the x58
I will believe this when the board will turn up in retail. Something's wrong.....or might be just a gut feeling...
With 3x sli/cf the system may get terrible cpu bottleneck...
even with a i5 well maybe not the higher end.
