so you're saying that poland spring's labeled "Distilled water" isn't really distilled water? and that using it in my closed loop will cause bad things to happen?

um wow, lots of posts I cant really respond to all of them.
Linus - thanks for the heads up about LRT being antimicrobial, never caught that part. still I dont thing 2 drops of PT nuke in the LRT is gonna cause any problems. ;)
Poland spring - yes all water from them labeled distilled is in fact really distilled. (I called them and asked once.)
I will repeat this happened with PURE and only Feser One Blue Premix and Primochill pro LRT tubing!
anything else you guys would like to know? I will be checking other loop components thoroughly tonight.
You'll be fine.
A lot of OCAU people think I'm bonkers for running straight distilled with no anti microbial anything. Deionised will contain organic matter but unless your pc sits next to a window and your pc sits for days turned off [ie no flow] then you should be fine.
However, I could be completely talking out of my butt and we are living in completely different environments so what may not happen in Brisbane may not necessarily be the same for you.
I hate premixes. Never again. Destilled+antifreeze+colored tubing FTW!
I wish someone would come out with purple tubing!
They say it's purple ...

... I'm colour blind
Ok, little lost right now. Can someone clear this up. Does Primochill's Primoflex Pro LRT tubing have anti-microbials in it that allows you to use nothing but pure distilled water?
I'm also wondering if the problem is more with the blue pre-mix than with other Feser 1 pre-mix colors? It seems that from reading posts most of the complaints are from the blue even though a see plenty of rigs on here running Feser 1 in other colors.
wow....i really dont know what you people do with your loops to get this happeneing!! i took apart my GTZ block a little while ago....been running feser blue in it for about 6 months, or just under and its relatively clean......
im running a PA 120.3, GTZ and DCC 18W XSPC res top in my loop with feser blue tubing and its fine.....
:eek2: that is pretty shocking though
geesh... all this talk for color...
just go and sleeve your tubing for bling/color/yadda and use Distilled+nuke or silver coil or your mom/gf's silver earring... might as well, it seems we're sleeving everything we can get our hands on...
I have the exact same problem with Feser red. Everything was flushed and it still happend. Clear water with coloured hosing next...

so... doe primochill LRT tubing actually have anti-microbial.... i'd think not... as that would be a marketing factor of it... maybe your confused or are you certain?
Clarification please :)
lemme guess... an all silver (or plated) fabbed res?
i ordered my Feser One UV Vlue before i decided to go with the UV Blue tubing, plus i was making a UV CCFL back lit water fall res (like the mirror water falls that just run straight down the mirror for a few feet) that i wanted to glow.
the only problem i've had with the Feser One was when i had a Koolance mosfet block that had what looked like a piece of iron/steel (small like grain of sand) attached to the resin plug. it started to corrode and it looked like some of the solids in the Feser One fluid were building up on the barbs for that block and inside that block. luckily no other corrosion outside that block.
oh, and the only other problem was when you spill it on white carpet... carpet isn't' so white anymore :(
yes . . . .why I use DI + PT Nuke unless purely for a SPECIFIC show purpose. I added a few drops of Feser Dye to the Torture Rack just to make the Frozen Q res glow but will not have it running long-term. I pretty much stick to DI as much as possible. For the clinic server I will use Fluid XP. For those who hate, be advised I had blood red Fluid XP in my Mountain Mods Duality clinic server running 24/7 for a couple years straight with NO problems. When I tore the loops apart it was in great shape. No residue, no gunk. I did have problems with their clear stuff separating in a separate build once tho. If you stray from DI you will always take a risk.
thats for the warning... I may go distilled then..
No one ever adds extra stuff to their loop because they THINK it's gonna cause problems. You just got burned by this mentality and now you're just turning around and doing it again.
Never mix anti-microbial products. If you're running with silver, don't add NUKE. If you're running NUKE, don't add iodine. If you're running iodone, don't use an anti-microbial tubing. Sure, by trial and error we could probably great a database of what reacts with what, but do you really want to be the guinea pig for that? You could be looking at ruined blocks/tubing/rads and a lot of wasted time.
Something you all need to remember is that the chemical makeup of two products even from the same manufacturer can be dramaticall different. If someone posts "Well I'm running Feser and PT_NUKE with no problems."
That's great. You got LUCKY.
But you need to know what colour they're running as well. Feser Blue could be unreactive with some other loop component and Feser Green could go nuts and turn bright orange upon contact.
Do we actually know what makes LRT anti-microbial? its quite possible they say that because it blocks UV light and therefore microbes cant grow. (of course a res raises another issue ;)
linus
if you ran primochill LRT tubing you wouldn't need ANYTHING at all other than distilled?
if you added a silver kill coil from IandH to it do you think that would cause problems?
I'm gonna setup a build soon with LRT and wondering if i actually need to get the killcoil from petratech
I've actually seen contraception "tips" in the past advising people not to wear two condoms at a time (one over the other) because it actually just increases the chance of it slipping off.
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
But seriously, doubling up your protection for sex is an entirely different matter...
SNiiPE, I can't make you do anything. All I can do is give you the best advice I'm capable of giving.
Pro LRT is not anti-microbial because it blocks light. A you mentioned, that simply wouldn't work because of reservoirs, but it also wouldn't work on clear tubing (available in LRT). There's something in there. You can roll the dice if you want to, but I wouldn't do it.
This is correct. The same goes for PT_NUKE. If you're using NUKE, you should have nothing else in your loop. I think Alex was doing some testing a while back to find out which Feser colours were compatible with PT_NUKE, but I never saw the results, so the simple truth remains the every time you mix anything you're taking a chance.
FYI - I run Primochill LRT and distilled + PT_nuke, and have for several months with no issues. At all. No gunk in the blocks, nothing but the plasticizer leach everyone gets.
