you'll have to boot around 221~222.

Only voltages you'll need to fiddle with for your chip are CPU VID, VTT, Vdimm

Those 3 will be completely unique to your CPU and will also vary with temp

For 3d over 233, set IOH to around 1.30V. You can pass 3d mark 06 upto around 233-234 BCLK. 231 is rock steady for both 06 and Vanatage oon this CPU. 233 takes a few reboots at times.

QPI COMP and CPU impedance - again will vary with temp and the IOH.

I left all oter voltages at stock, no need to change them from their base values - even upto 245 BCLK.

thanks raju, I'll have a play around but at this stage Im only about to boot at around the 214 BCLK mark...might be CPU limited.

are you on air or cold?

Im playing around with it now on air (well air and a whole lot of dielectric and kneaded erasers hehe) but have the cascade waiting here to fire up when Im comfortable I know what Im doing with i7 ;)

But I thought that as long as Im using low CPU multipliers (Im currently at x14) I would be able to test the BCLK and QPI maximums. Im probably missing something though :yepp:

some chips only scale well under cold for BCLK. This one won't go past 230 on air.

where did you found the Bios Version from April the 21 ? my latest Beta ist from April the 17? do you have a link for this bios? thank you :)

The BIOS is beta status - not public yet. As soon as EVGA approves after full in-house trials they'll go public with it.

THe newer BIOS adds Dram Vref and also individual RTL control per memory channel.

On the template front there's not much to say, 103 PCi/e will get you upto 230. Over 230 you need a minimum 108, 110 will push past 240 BCLK if your CPU is capable.

The only 3 voltages you need to wrry about vary so wildly from CPU to CPU that it's almost impssible to use the settings of one on another (Vcore, VTT and VDimm) and expect the same results. Play with CPU Impedance and QPI Comp for stability at high BCLK, again this varies according to the IOH and your CPU.

Yes you do need to offset PCI/e. Make sure you do it from BIOS to create the offset necessary during the boot cycle to create BCLK headroom within the OS.

No probs, you should be able to bench upto 240 quit easily, and possibly even better the stuff I did. There's nothing to it really.

Thank you for help i´ve put the PCI/e to 101 for 220 BCLK. i´m priming now but i cannot run the 221 bclk. these are my settings at the moment

If running a D0, you should have plenty of overhead to scale on the 21x multi without chasing 221X19 for 24/7. I'd use the 21X multi and start off with 200 BCLK. I bet you can run 4.2GHz with around 1.24V load Vcore too.

I think its probably only typical of the kind of overclocks we can expect of the D0 stepping...but this board is just so nicely built and lets you push the chip relatively effortlessly!

This validation used only 1.425 vCore and the CPU is Batch# 3849A837
