Compression Fittings vs Straight Barbs?

I am with you on this. I also had an incident with dual DDCs in series where it blew the tubing of a barb leaving the pump. I was using 3/8" ID 5/8" OD on 1/2" fittings and it let loose. Never happened in all my years at this, but not again. I now use a Tie-wrap gun for maximum tension on plain barbs.

I bought both KL and BP compression fittings. I like KL barbs, but the threads are very course and hard to screw the nut down.

I like the fine threads of the BP, but no barbs made me nervous even though I like the idea of removing the tubing easier.

End of the day I did not like either so stayed with barbs and zip tie-wraps.
