Anybody know a good windows-based fan control utility that works with this board? .... tired of noisy fans.
Anybody know a good windows-based fan control utility that works with this board? .... tired of noisy fans.
I want the fan speeds to scale with temps, silly. And smart fan ... well, I'll give it a chance. I have some of my fans connected to a fan controller, but it only has three ports. I've got a couple of the ports split to run two fans, so that stretches its usability a little bit, but I don't want to start the thing on fire.
By the way, all the numbers I've gotten so far, and overclocking I've done, has accidentally ben with vdroop enabled!!! I read it wrong. Without vdroop control I was still able to climb all the way down to 1.38v and stay at 4.0GHz with turbo enabled on air, with OUTSTANDING temps!! I can't believe how utterly uber awesome super holy crap wow this motherboard is. I've NEVER had a better overclocking experience or better results.
And just FYI, I was able to hit a stable 4.35GHz max overclock once I enabled the vdroop prevention, and overvoltage was never more than .05v. This rig is sick. Now I'm back down to 1.38v for 4.0GHz with my memory close to the rated 1600MHz. I got the memory down to 1T clocks - didn't really notice a difference from 2T. I haven't ran Vantage yet, but 3DMark06 on this thing with the video card at a mere 10% overclock hits 25,601!!! Everything is still on air. I couldn't be happier with that performance, and I haven't even started liquid cooling anything yet.
Thanks to everyone for the examples, advice, and support for overclocking the CRAP out of my i7. If anyone is considering this board, BUY IT. With the latest official BIOS it's just indescribably good. :D
thats a pretty nice chip you have there post screens dude  else it did not happen :D, what is the patch code you have ?
mine is #3841A347 (picked it up from ebay) and it hits close to 4.2ghz with air cooling at 1.39v witch is not bad but not anything extraordinary

Yay! Same basic batch set, there. You should have a solid chip. Mine's 3841A529. Just to clarify, I never hit 4.35GHz on 1.38, I'm just running my 24/7 settings at 1.38 at 4.0GHz. It took 1.54 something to hit 4.35GHz stable, and temps were getting close to 80c at those settings, but yeah, I need to do some screens.
My second boot straight for bios into my fastest 32m run on water.
So far, I'm digging it.

Hello guys need some advices. I finnaly got this motherboard and would like some help. What are the best settings for max OC (if you can tell me for water and sub0 (SS and DICE). For now I archived 4300mhz for superPI and 4075 stable. My voltages are:
VCORE 1.45V
DIMM 1.65
QPI PLL 1.375
CPU PLL 1.525
IOH VCORE 1.35
CPU VTT 1.2
IOC/ICH I/O 1.55
ICH Cvore 1.125
Thanx:D
for air cooling i've been able to get this board to +4.6ghz with the following settings:
CORE 1.55V
DIMM 1.72
QPI PLL 1.474
CPU PLL 1.8
IOH VCORE 1.10
CPU VTT 1.45
IOC/ICH I/O 1.5
ICH Cvore 1.0500
with 2 stage cascade i've used the following settings to get my chip past 4.9ghz
CORE 1.681V ( yes this chip is that voltage hungry :( )
DIMM 1.775
QPI PLL 1.52
CPU PLL 1.8
IOH VCORE 1.325
CPU VTT 1.52
IOC/ICH I/O 1.575
ICH Cvore 1.2
obviously all chips are individuals and these settings might not work for you but atleast they give some indications what voltages you need to raise in order to get higher clocks  btw remember to play around with the pcie frequency, it helps with stability while running a bench, i usually keep mine around 110mhz, also i have to point out that raising the PWM frequency will help too.
Thank you for this:D
Its allways easier to start from somewhere:) Will try with those settings with current C1 until I'm waiting for D0:D
Today I finnaly got some time for OC (about 5min of work:), and I eate too much to anythink else (I just sitting for last 2 hours and barely moving mouse:D)

This is under water (please dont look at the time, it was only for max clock and not finnal resoult). Will do until I get D0:D
I finnaly got able to find a D0 for a decent price here in Brazil, something around US$365, US$ more than the cheapest C0 I can get...
It's time to find out where this board can take me...
now all i've gotta do is find a classified :D
M-XXXX those are pretty nice clocks on water cooling especially cos you have HT enabled.. next try 32m ..lets see if its still stable at those clocks :D
Will do, but don't know when.
Im so short on time... I have 30GB od DDR3 ram at home to test, and probably geting two or four more kits. Soon first shipment of VERSVS computers will arrive, few graphic cards are waiting to be tested. Better if I dont mention other things to do:( I even don't have time for sub0 and I have all insulation on the motherboard and SS waiting 4m away. Also have offer for free LN2 and maye even helium:D
1.75v seems like it's a little hot for DDR3, but I guess it's fine for just finding your max. Aren't these 920's great? And this motherboard is a dream. Other than the DRAM voltage I've been able to get some great results and stability as well as good temps using very similar settings to yours.
I must agree, this mobo is one of the best I ever had. No more Asus or Gigabyte:D Yesterday I had some time for SS benching (real fast one):

There is stiil lot of free space for higher clock, but this will do until I have some more free time. But I will probably get D0 before that:up:
Can you post me settings for 24/7 clocks? Tnx
1.61v ... you're brave!! Here are my 24/7 settings right now. I'm going to try to climb some of the voltages down a little bit when I get some more time, but it's extremely stable now. It's stable at these settings at 1.38, too.

hehe i did 1.61 with air cooling (true black with 2x 120 mm 130cfm fans )when trying to qualify for Finnish overclocking competition held on one finnish hardware site, it was the only way to get 3d mark 05 stable for some runs :ROTF:
here is the screenie of that run.

:D Temperature on evap was -45C idle and about -41load (3dmark06 CPU test) so I think 1.625 is not too bad:) And my previous experiences with Intel are: better a bit up, than down:D My Q6600 was working for almost a year on 1.6V for 24/7 at 4ghz and no problems, my E8600 was working few months at 1.45V and also no problems, so why should be gentle to i7:DQuote:
1.61v ... you're brave!!
Tnx for the settings, will try them when I come home:)
Pshhhh... you sub-zero cooling people! :D
Those settings are what I use for air. My temps stay really decent, overall, and performance is top notch. I'll try solarfall's settings just for fun ... 1.61 and you hit 4.6 eh? Hehe. Impressive on air. If I only do it for a couple of benchmarks, no biggie, right? I shouldn't fry it if my temps stay good.

on water, just working to get this wprime stable.
amazing for a c0!
