Nice, very simple, and I bet it works well..
If I could just get it in nickel plating to match my graphics card blocks I plan to buy I would pay double for it!!:(
If it comes in acrylic and in nickel plating I will pay up to the price of the standar supreme for it.
As much as I appreciate EK products for being well made, I fear that this mounting mechanism reminds me of the old DD (and others) days where cracking the acrylic became a problem.
I can only hope that Eddie's created a similar mountain mechanism to the Swiftech GTZ to ensure perfect mounting pressure without risk for overtightening. If such a mechanism doesn't exist, the endless remounts for optimal mounting pressure and the added risk would make it difficult for the inexperienced.
I went with the KL block simply because they said they're already shipping. I also want to give them 1 more shot at earning my business back after my own personal boycott.
I'd prefer an EK block but it'll take at least another week before they come in stock.
Worse comes to worse, I'll buy an EK block. I have to say though, I'm quite disgusted with the price KL is charging for their 295 block. Seems way unreasonable.
nice I hope it performs better then ek previous block :D
Block is available now in the US
$50 bucks :)
I've just received my EK Supreme Lt today and installed it. I bought it direct from EK's site and the postage was quick as usual. (To the UK.) I also ordered the i7 backplate with it.
Eddy has now started to put stickers over the base of the blocks he sends out which meant the base of mine was perfect after shipping. Installation was easy with no problems - The backplate was attached to the board with long M4 nuts / bolts and then the block is held down with springs and thumb-nuts.
I'm running an i7 920 using the auto-overclock of 3.2GHz. (Not had a chance to do it by hand yet.) Temps provided are from Core Temp, the temp read for the "CPU" tends to be quite a bit lower than the core temps so I'm not sure which is correct.
Using the stock cooler I was idling at around 60C, running one copy of Super Prime (I.e. One core loaded.) I was hitting around 90C.
Using the Supreme Lt I'm idling at around 30C and running one copy of Super Prime I'm hitting around 45C.
This is with a DCC 3.2 and a PA120.3.
Also it seems be very responsive. When I start Super Prime the core heats up in a couple of seconds and when I stop it, it cools back down in about a second.
Cheers Eddy. :3
NB: This is in no way a fair test, just take it as a guide.
Can you give us full temps on all cores laoded 100%? I want to either get this block or the koolance cpu-350....
I don't know which core is real and which is the hyper threading one so I run 8 copies of Super Prime 2004. Priority was 9 and test was Small FFTs.
E-Leet reported the CPU temp as 37C.
Core Temp reported the temps as:
53C
53C
46C
48C
53C
47C
48C
53C
Idle temps:
E-Leet: 23C
Core Temp:
36C
38C
32C
31C
38C
32C
31C
36C
PS: I always end up putting on way too much TIM so the contact probably isn't ideal.
Just curious has anyone seen any trustable comparison between this and some of the well known CPU blocks, maybe even standard supreme :yepp:
btw mine should arrive next week :)
The CPU Temp reading in E-Leet always reads low ... I believe E-Leet reads the CPU socket temp, not the core temps, so best to use the core readings to compare with Core Temp, Real Temp, etc.
When will someone review it and test it? Skinnee??:D
I will send a message to Eddy, so we'll see.
Are there any tests on this block yet?
Finally got it in the mail today, but I don't have the proper setup for testing
Well, I am guilty of something...I forgot to email Eddy. I will add a reminder to email him so I don't forget this time. Sorry! :shakes:
so no one tested this block out yet?
I want to see it with the block mounted to the mobo, to see how it is connected? I do not like long screws like the D-Tek V1 setup from prior days. Also I was thinking of buying this for a HTPC build I will be doing instead of using the D-Tek V1 quick mount. Again pictures will be nice if anyone as any out there attached to there mobo.
If this thing somehow had a "pro" mount that had metal wings and bit fancier screws, per GTZ or Fuz V2, it would be quite a winner. 350 and original Extreme are too restrictive imo.
