Now, if we could convince you to start measuring other competing radiators of a similar size, and then grow the thick skin to weather the jibes, you'll be providing a great service to the community.

(My apologies if you've posted other similar threads that I've not yet seen.)

I was reading your posts in the other thread regarding 8fpi designs at TC; I had always wondered why someone didn't loosen up the fin count a little in the recent past- with the migration towards low RPM fans and silence that we've seen.

I also agree very much with your point about watercooling today's hardware, although it is a fun tinker, it is pretty hard to justify for anything other than fun when my system already demolishes all the apps I throw at it at stock speeds.

I hope there would be more 140mm rads..

yes 140mm rads would be sweet as well but I just bought a bunch of the dirt cheap San Ace's

Good job

According to me however only three measures between 500RPM and 1800 RPM are too much little to establish the characteristics of the radiator.
Not only to know the behavior of the radiator to 500 RPM
But also for a further control of the correctness of the data.

What RPM settings do you suggest? As I said previously, I am open to adding additional test runs to the procedure. With that said, I would prefer not to have to run tests at 100RPM increments from 500RPM to 2800RPM. That would mean 24 tests per run for a total of 3 runs. 1 test run would take 36 hours of test time. The amount of time it would take to crunch the numbers and generate the write-up would grow exponentially as well.

And please note, there are 3 measurements between 1000RPM and 1800RPM, not 500-1800RPM like you specified.

So all you are requesting is one additional RPM setting of 600? If so, that can definitely be added. :up:

600 RPM is fine, It'll probably be enough for a general trendline below 1000 RPM.

FYI everyone I called Petra's and nudged them, they now plan to stock the RX series rads. They will be placing the order along with some other XSPC items shortly. :)

These may become the most popular rads pretty quickly...there's nothing bad about them at all :cool:

TFC has insane prices, TC has the funky fan spacing and G3/8, GTX series doesn't perform well with low fannage, MCRs have a reachable performance ceiling and aren't *quite* as good as the rest at regular fannage levels (though I still use them and just over-radiator my setup or deal with the 1C loss). These (preliminarily) have everything just about right :up:

Haha, that's pretty much what I told Quoc... somebody had emailed him a link but he hadn't checked it out yet.

I said he had better hurry up and stock these puppies because once the word gets out they're really gonna move IMO.

Great review, I enjoyed it enough that I bought the little RX120 for a minimal noise setup with a max fan speed of around 1500rpm for a PII 940.

I think the little bugger should work out perfect, you sold one radiator!! :)

Did it ruin the paint on the fins themselves? If its only on the body of the rad it shouldn't be too bad to sand and repaint even though you shouldn't have to with something new. Unfortunate that it ruined the finish though.

mcoffey, that sucks man:shakes:...but, they are likely made in China like all their other stuff is and likely by some of the same vendors, so I can't really say I'm too surprised. I think I'll wait a while so they get this problem sorted before I order any.

I noticed the tissue paper stuck to the paint in spots on the triple as well, but the paint is not ruined on mine. Just needed some minor buffing with a paper towel and some water.

On the ultra low speed fan topic...what fans would you guys recommend? Yate Loon D12SL-12's or something else?

How low do your current fans go....the less fan swapping, the better (IMO, and for more than one reason).

They don't want to go below 1k RPM, but they are D12SH-12's. I think either way I am going to have to do 3 fan swaps.

FWIW, S-Flex G usually do 400-1900RPM just fine...but for the sake of preservation of data, just stick with your current config and add some SLs :) (they *should* go to 600RPM).
