I'm running Vista64, and yes, the only reported working installation is XP32, it's on the foldingforums. Bleh I don't like this. Even though I'm getting 8100 on 5758 I want it running full blast. :(

Needs a bit of clocking still and I need to think of a new way of sorting the VM's, because just now I had a monster 511 point WU which was choking one of the clients even if the VM was lowest priority and the GPU2 was set to high.
WOW! 16.6k ppd thats pretty impressive nice clocks!
Impressed!! love the filename too:)
Edit: What was the key
Yup, I think so too.

Shaders are topping out on 1512, dunno if more voltage or better cooling will help it any further. The memclk is stunning though, at least IMO. :)
Total PPD will go down because I now distributed both VM from core0-core2 and both GPU's have core3 for themselfes. Let's see what that brings me.
Edit: Oh and fan on 80% (3600RPM) brings me 72°C. It's not quiet and it's a squealer. Louder that both 9600GSO by far.
Edit 2: The key to get it working? I did a fresh and clean setup on both GPU2 clients. Then I changed the second DVI to dummy plug (the same as the HDMI now, second DVI had a cable to a real monitor before but I bet that wasn't the problem). I didn't change anything on the driver side, because 181.20 was giving me headaches before. Oh and I shut the enhance to 3rd monitor on and of and on, and there it was. The second GPU in RT. Wowsa. I have to admit that my Vista install is "vintage", so you might have no problems at all. But to me it seems that the drivers are not really ready for this. Fiddling around like this and needing to install leaked beta drivers to get it working? Come on nVidia!
whats the temp threshold on the 295?
I'm thinking about buying 2 of these and have them fold 24/7 and having the computer in my bedroom and I can deal without the noise.
Please do so, because it would help us all greatly. I at least can afford just one of them. But God I love this card. Somewhere around 1.2kg, matte black metal finish, it's really nice chunk of shiny new geek pron, sooo :slobber:

Excuse the subpar shots, I only have a camera phone to take these.
I plan on it just trying to get my 3rd and finaly 9800GX2 and that folding machine is done.
p,
If you have one and you get the chance can you stick a Kill-a-Watt on this and give us some numbers?
I guess I'm watching the chance of overtaking you verschwinden :p:.... time to start planning another build
can't wait for my kill-a-watt to show much how much 3x9800GX2's draw @ load thank god the government pays for my electric bill :)
Very nice p2501! Glad you got it running! Which "leaked" drivers did you use???
I'll be very happy if I can get 3 of my 9800GX2s running in my I7. Replacement board arrives tomorrow. And I'll put the other 3 in a new AMD 9600 build with a K9A2 Platinum mobo. That should yield 50-60K ppd from 2 rigs and lower my power bill. Of course that leaves 6 empty PCI-E slots and like an addict with an incurable addiction, I'll probably try to fill them.
I got it working! In my situation, there were two issues. The first was my having SLI turned on. The second was the HDMI port needs to be initiated, since it is assigned GPU1, whereas the DVI ports are both assigned GPU0.
w00t
wait what did you have to do with the hdmi? do you need two monitors to make it work?
Heheee, come and get me! =)
185.20, the only ones that work for me. Well, they're beta, so I used the term leaked. I've got the dreaded blackscreen on boot with 181.20.
nV needs to get their drivers working.
Glad to hear that!
But I think it would have been better if nV would have assigned one DVI port to each GPU, maybe we wouldn't have needed to have dummies all around.
It just means that you need to have a dummy in there too and you need to expand the screen to the HDMI output, as usual.
You think this is bad luck ? I have Both ASUS GTX 295 Here lying on the desk ... because the MOBO is dead :p:
Went to the reseler returned the MOBO took the P6T and it's up and running now I need to reinstall the OS I'm using half year old Vista that worked on X48 C2Q and single GTX280 , it's quite SLOW but I'm amazed that it booted without BSOD :hehe:
Btw any fast guide for Quad Client ? I tried the Dual Solution but i recieved some mbad_gpu or something like that
Check the fah forums, getting one card to work on Vista seems doable, but multiple cards = headaches. :(
p,
Would you mind posting (or me posting) your comment at FaH Forum:
"The key to get it working? I did a fresh and clean setup on both GPU2 clients. same question to you neb:
"I got it working! In my situation, there were two issues. The first was my having SLI turned on. The second was the HDMI port needs to be initiated, since it is assigned GPU1, whereas the DVI ports are both assigned GPU0."
OldChap, if you want to post it, feel free. The last time I tried to help there, I was ignored. You might add that rebooting after changes also might be helpful. But these 'hints' are only applicable to single GTX295 systems, I don't know what happens if you put in one more.
