Can you quote the exact post you want to show us, cause I personally can't find it. One more argument that 4GHz on air will be something normal with 940BE...

It's not using so much power? 940BE is with TDP 125W, and on 4GHz will consume above 160-70W(I don't remember the formula with which these values are calculated) :). All quadcore processors are very hot and consume a lot of energy.
maybe but at same speeds it consumes about 50% less compared to phenom I... but you will be right most obviously. power draw rises immensely with higher clocks and voltage. my agena throws 425w at me using my power meter with quadprime running at 3,4ghz. thats 250w more then idle , minus 20% equals 200w more then idle so roundabout 200w power draw from the cpu alone if you allow the overall system a 40w more power when full load without graphics. i hope i wont see these numbers with deneb again :rolleyes:
And this results are with which air cooler, cause if it's something different from IFX, TRUE and S1283/4/Vendetta 2 higher clocks could be expected even on air.
I completely agree and think that on ~4G and 1.5V+ the situation will be close to this :D.

P2 940 tested on Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe board! Seems to clock well on SB600 :)
I planned on keeping my board anyways(my M3A32-MVP Deluxe Wifi)... Cant wait...
M3A32-MVP's bios support for PII is still on beta stage, so the other SB600 boards should perform better, but this results - 50% faster than 9950 only on 3.8GHz make me very optimistic :). The launch date is close, I only hope the cpus will be available at the release date.
It's 101% confirmed(by mine sources) that there will be no difference in the clock with SB600 and SB750/700, all the possessors of SB600 boards should be very very pleased from that info :). The thread could be closed now or left open if someone want to post his results when the cpu-s come out on the market.

I have the Phenom II 940 on this board, hitting 3.9 so far stable, but the BIOS is still in the Beta stages, cant wait untill ASUS comes out with another update

does it look to you that there is no difference at all in sb600 and sb750 OC's? or have you noticed a difference?
I did hear back then that there was going to be NO difference, but probably was just a rumor, just waiting for others to get the chip and start OC on the SB750's... its a waiting game

HondaGuy are you able to use that high of a hypertransport/northbridge clock with 3.9ghz core clock?
I have got it up to 3.7 so far with the NB/HT @ 2600... still tweaking

I have clocked a 920 with 284x12.5 on Gigabyte 790fx/SB600 board. It works just fine.
I own the 920 because I knew it would clock well before they were released so I didn't buy the black edition this time. I gave up going upwards on the HT Link because I was getting near the limits of running out of multipliers low enough on the HT Link, Northbridge, and Ram since the board showed absolutely no sign of letting up.
I'm 100% positive I could have gone significantly further without effort. On a whim my firsts test started out at 10x cpu multiplier and 1.472v...I didn't lower the multiplier until I started to get into the stratospheric region of HT Bus speeds and the cpu clock would be too high for that voltage. I never raised the cpu voltage above the 1.472v that I started with, I also never tried it with lower voltage so who knows how low I could've gone on voltage. :)
I've attatched 3 shots showing the Max HT Bus speed I've tested before getting bored, High HT Bus with high Northbridge, and finally 3.78Ghz clock at the max voltage I'm allowed to use (1.552v). I've gone up to 3.83Ghz but not stable enough with the little testing I did at that speed to matter. With running two cores only I reached 3.93Ghz.
All results shown here are with my ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe WiFi with the Phenom II 920 using all 4 cores overclocking from the bios only. Voltages were not fully optimized so they may be higher than they actually need to be especially the HT Bus speed test which for sure has the cpu voltage up too high because I used a random but safe number.
