It only has 64 streaming processos. What is its average ppd?
About 3500...
i'm considering not posting it b/c there's 9600gso's that do better and they are cheaper.
XFX 8800GS $80 no rebates free shipping! That's an awesome no hassel deal!

If you look at the charts the 9600gt seems to use 20w less, in 3 years it would make up for the less ppd ( in 2 years almost iirc ). Something we shouldn't forget here, it has no use to have someone buy a very fast card if they won't be able to pay the running costs?
Edit: and I can show you I can get 4200 out of the GT, if things run like I want them to ( and I get the right wu's ). But not many people seem to be able to run at 1900 shaders
Well, I just ordered:
2x: XFX PVT88SFDD4 GeForce 8800GS XXX 384MB 192-bit -Alpha Dog Edition overclocked at 680Mhz--$79.99 shipped
and
1x: OCZ EliteXStream OCZ800EXS 800W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply
Picked up a used P5K-E mb (2xPCI-e), Ocz ram and Q6600. So, the 3rd cruncher is going up and I'll be running 4 8800's on F@H. Expecting a total added electrical cost for this petting zoo to be ~$85/month.
Pleeeeease---somebody STOP meeeeeeee!
Now accepting food donations. Canned goods ship well.....
9800gx2 for 260 bucks added. Figured all you high rollers want one. ;)
GTX260 = $235 on the egg, GOOD luCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SMP has flags, -smp -deino -forceasem etc. GPU only needs -gpu 0 -gpu 1 etc if you have multiple gpu's. No flags otherwise for gpu folding.
Oh, what did I do wrong then? [goes and checks gpu2 setup guide]
EDIT: Installed the console version.
EDIT2: same PPD
Well in a few weeks I'm going to trade it in for a 9800gx2.
EDIT: changed to console, got 100 more ppd, switched back got 300 more!
Now I have 3000 PPD.
I was bored so I am exploring the possibilty of the absolute cheapest and most efficient folder you could buy:
CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Desktop Memory Model VS2GBKIT667D2 - Retail - $35.99
Intel Celeron 430 Conroe-L 1.8GHz LGA 775 35W Single-Core Processor Model BX80557430 - Retail - $39.99
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST380815AS 80GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM - $38.99
EVGA 384-P3-N851-AR GeForce 8800 GS 384MB 192-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail - $109.99 x3 = $329.97
ASRock Penryn1600SLI-110dB LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail - $99.99 (3x PCI-E x16)
SILVERSTONE ZEUS SST-ST65ZF 650W ATX 12V 2.0 & EPS 12V Power Supply - Retail - $129.99 -$50.00 Instant $79.99 (3x PCI-E 6-pin connectors)
Subtotal: $623.92 Points: ~13,500 PPD (Assuming 4,500 PPD per card... could be more if overclocked)
This comes out to about $46.21 per 1,000 PPD. Some ways you could make it cheaper:
- Diskless, subtract the hard drive and replace with cheap thumb drive.
- Cheaper power supply
- 1 GB of RAM instead of 2
I'm sure there are some good deals on barebones systems on TigerDirect also... post up your best "value PPD" combos!
the $99 8800gt is back...

$20 mir aug 31 http://images10.newegg.com/UploadFil...ug3108cd12.pdf
Get a e2180, 2x cost 2x cores.
Seems to work good enough for me, with my main compy.
I agree with Loony. I am not sure that a single core could feed three 8800GS on XP and it may even be a stretch on Vista unless OCed.
