I ordered this DFI LT X48 T2R board from NCIX. It seems like it would be really easy to watercool and was recommend by several members here. My 680i was a good board for the E6600, but it just doesn't like the new quad. I think I have chipset blocks to take care of the NB and SB, so I may just have to work up a PWM block for myself. I don't want to change anything once I start testing, so I want to get it wet off the get go..:)

Canon 20D, it's getting older these days but still a much better camera than this operator can handle.

Heading to Reno tomorrow for the whole week..:up:

Oh nice, I'm looking at a 20D myself, I'm really getting into photography and I've got photoshop to work with too.. but this little digital cam isn't going to work out very long... need a DSLR! :D
And plus, my dad already has a 5D with several lenses ranging from 24-400mm that I will be able to use.
I was originally looking at the Rebel XTI or XSI but just found out that you can only use DX lense's with those, and my dad doesn't have DX lense's, so the 20D is the way to go for me. :up:

It's also relatively cheap nowadays, you can get the body and a 50mm for about $500 thats in great condition on ebay.

Little OT, but still, photography is awesome. :D

BTW, whoever told you you can't run regular lenses on a XTi or Rebel is wrong, they work just fine.

You can't however run DX lenses on full sensored bodys such as the 5D or 1D series. The issue is image circle vs sensor size. The DX lenses have a smaller image circle that projects onto the smaller sensor size of the 1.6crop sensors like the XTi, 20D, 40D, etc. The regular lenses project a larger image circle which is fine on a smaller sensor. But on a DX lense the image circle is too small for the larger sensor size of the 5D/1D series. Some of the zooms will work at the tele end, but they will typically start having the edges of the image cropped out on the wide end.

Anyhow, the newer XTis and lower cost cameras take darn near every bit as good a picture as the higher end models at least for most users. I bought the 20D at the time because I wanted the all metal body and better focusing precision it had over the 350D. The newer 450Ds and such have all been upgraded since then and now even have auto sensor cleaning which I wish I had..

Anyhow, I wouldn't let the lense thing bother you. You actually have more lense options than the 5D boys do.. Not that I wouldn't rather have a 5D, I just can't afford it..lol!

Anyhow, back to topic. The new fuzion V2 is very good, can't wait to overclock this Q6600 and start comparing some blocks.:up:

I am truly loving the V2 myself, the temps are great!! I'm getting slightly lower temps then my 8800GT with it's HR-03 GT cooler on it... 30c Idle and around 40'ish load!! :eek:

And I don't even have the quad insert in... ;)
It's at stock clocks atm though, this gigabyte board doesn't like overclocking, at least with quads.
But my buddy has got me a replacement coming today or tomorrow for the striker. :up:

i think that V1 is a better block for Quads.. what do u have to say about that

It's going about as fast as my 680i overclocks!...lol!

There are basically four main performance improvements on V2

-O-ring - This is the same as V1 with the washer from the nozzle kit
-Shorter Pin Height - This forces more water closer to the base and at higher velocities. This is a tradeoff in higher restriction, but it does provide more thermal efficiency.
-Thinner Base - Base thickness is a tricky one, but the new V2 is slightly thinner.
-Improved mounting hold down plates

My guess is the V2 outperform the V1 on all processors, but I won't know for sure until I get some testing done. I'm hoping I'll get my new motherboard and get some overclocking done by the end of next weekend. Then I'll start some testing..:up:

Nope, not at all.
It's actually not a washer that seals it, it's an actual o-ring like you'd find on a barb.
It's much better this way, D-Tek really did thourouly think this one out. :up:

Like what smee posted, no extra material at all. Here's a pic of the o-ring on the V2, opened it last night to install the quad core insert.

Same here, no extra gasket injection slag on the newer version. I think part of that may be because they now machine finish the top of the base on V2, where in V1 it was cast. They probably did this injection on the gasket for V1 just in case there were any minor irregularities in V1.

Anyhow, the gasket issue with V1 is not present in V2..:)

do you really have to to a V1 vs V2 comparison?
i would rather see a comparison of the latest EK block vs V2.
you know that everyone will buy the V2 now just due to those new improvements, but what i want to see is what the top block is and a comparison of the EKs different plates and the V2s nozzles/plates , on your Q6600 of course

But, performance aside, we're approching the end of socket 775, it's just few months ahead, suerely less than one year before EOL of most interesting socket 775 CPU for the overclockers.

So, my question is: would this block fit on upcoming Nehalem sockets, especially socket 1366 but also 1160?

Well i actually did. I bought everything and cut a massive triple rad hole at the top of my P182SE. But then i couldnt be stuffed to install the WC and i sold all the WC stuff and kept the case for later WC adventure

Martin, a question: What was the speed and volts on your processor? That is, how many watts are being dissipated?

My processor is an older conroe I believe B3 stepping, 3.3Ghz, 1.38Vcore (after vdroop) 1.425Vcore set in 680i bios.

I've never tried to measure heat dump from the actual processor, but according to swiftech's kit calculator here:

That's approximately an 80 watt heat load(Orthos 100% load). I believe swiftech's calculator takes into account some ambient losses through the motherboard, so it's more accurate than power consumption calculators.

But be forwarned on my processor being a hot one, my new quadcore G0 is much much cooler even with the extra cores. Not sure why it runs so hot, but it makes for a good testing processor that way..

Iam new on watercooling. For an compentition i want to buy the D-tek Fuzion V2 waterblock because of his good performance.
Iam using a old Koolance Exos II watercooling kit and want to OC an single core Celeron 430. The Fuzion waterblock is the only block in the whole loop.
Do i need a nozzle kit for better preformance? I read this thread but i don`t understand the tables in this thread in the first posts.
So the best way to cool is good pressure and a good flow? Whats the best nozzle for my setup? Sorry for the bad english, but iam doing my best to post this.
