so your saying the RV7xx cards despite having GDDR4/5 as physically faster ram, will have a thinner bus and crappy or bad timings whereas the GeForce 99xx cards will actually give more performance by Slower RAM but with a wider bus??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think memory speed is the be-all and end-all of GPU performance.
Oh man I'm setting away $500 for this card, don't fail me Nvidia.
Wow, you guys get fleeced.
oh prices have decreased the last few days,
only ocuk has the original prices
£379.99
£446.49 inc VAT (that's $900)
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...56&subcat=1009
still expensive though with the decreases:
(novatech and scan)

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...=531&OrderBy=4
that´s very expensive
here in portugal you ban buy a 9800GX2 of 2\3 brands (XFX, Gigabyte for example) for 450\460€ :welcome:
wait, why are we talking about 9800gx2's now lol?
I hope this isn't just a paper tiger... God, I hate making hardwaredecisions based on rumors :(
I hope the new cards are released as soon as possible, i need a 120€ 9800GTX :yepp: :D
This is part of the marketing hype. :D Rumor are the best way to keep people interested before the official launch.

For the high-end enthusiasts segment., Nvidia will launch GeForce 9900 GTX and 9900 GTS in July to replace the 9800 GX2 and GTX. There is a die shrink on G92 for GeForce 9800 GT cards. Nvidia has also cancelled plans to launch GeForce 9800 GTS because there are simply too many high end GPUs. We told you earlier, GeForce 9600 GSO will launch on May 13th which is just a rebrand of the 8800 GS. The rest of the mainstream and value GPUs like 9500 GT, 9500 GS, 9300 GE and 9300 GS will come in June-July timeframe.
So its confirmed that 9900GTX is GT-200, so no more waiting longer for GT200.
Unless the 9900 is a gigantic leap forward in performance, I am going to skip until the new cards + new Intel sockets.
I'm glad Gt200 isn't G92b
AAnd lol @ GSO
one of two things will happen.
GT200 is completely new like 50% of rumors say, but it won't be out for a bit
or we'll be getting G92 version 1.1 and living with that for TOO long.
I think it will be just as they say, a huge chip, power hungry, fast, and expensive. Nvidia doesn't care about how many cards they move, all they care about is profit and the margins on these cards are very nice. They have the midrange dominated with G92 right now, good move for them to own the high end as well instead of more refreshes.
I don't understand why would nVidia name a GPU with a completely new core, which is supposed to be the real successor of the G80, 9900. Seeing how they named 9800GTX a card which is barely faster than the 8800GTX, this one should be the 10800GTX or something.
Where's the catch?
So much for GT200 in June. Meh. Q3 just more wishful thinking?
