Asus Rampage Formula Memory Compatibility & OC Info

i have buffalo firestix 2x1gb 1066 on my asus rampage formula. . .i have a big problem with this board or maybe with this memory i dont know which one is causing the problem. . .

Ok here's the problem. . .

when my rig boots up running at normal, no tweaks on the board i get Det Dram on lcd post. . . and rig doesnt boot whatsover. . .to be able to boot i need to clear the cmos so i can go to bios. . . when im inside the bios and tried setting the dram voltage to 2.1 as it says on firestix manual and timings 5.5.5.18 then save and exit i still get "DET DRAM" then i need clear cmos again to be able to go to bios. . .now here the good part when i set the dram frequency to 800mhz no tweaks on the voltage just the dram frequency.. . the pc boots up and runs 24/7 no errors whatsoever. .. so what do you thin is the problem here?? can you help me??

Try the White slots instead of the blue ones.

Also set your DRAM skew advance 50 or 100...that should help ease things.

I'm currently have some serious problem with this mobo with 8gb.

Can't post with 8GB with OCZ Reaper DDR2800!! not even with 533 or 667.

Even up to this day i still cannot reach 1200mhz no matter what skew or timings or anything!

I even attempted to use the latest maximus bios and that seemed more stable with memory but still not 100% stable...

I'm thinking of just going back to my p35 neo2-fr since these sticks are tested with the p35 chippy, and sell the rampage.

to my knowledge, the rampage offers great power tweaking for low clocks and power saving features and not gaining high clocks.

EDIT: I was able to get 1200mhz, but the performance decreased by 50%. Read and Write speeds in the 5gb/sec.

Hey guys, Im just wondering about this memory Patriot Extreme Performance Viper Series DDR2 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-9600 Enhanced Latency DIMM Kit latency is 5-5-5-12, these are the newer versions of the once slug has i think cuz these are the heatsinks that are green ones with fins(PVS22G9600ELKN) , i was looking at getting 2 of these kits so i will have 4gb in total ram, Im not worring about expanding becuase by the time i upgrade my rig again ill be going i7 and DDR3, also i need 4gb ram also i hav 64 bit vista. I was wondering if 2 of these memroy kits would run on my GA-X48-DQ6, becuase i've heard you guys are having trouble with them on your Asus maximus's and Rampages, and i think my board is newer than the Asus's and i thought therefore would be able to take the newer ram better. but yeah i was only thinking this cause slug said he was having trouble getting them to stock settings, so yeah just wondering will the 4 sticks all run at the stock settings.:shrug:
