Was it an L803/804? I just got my Quad and it is an L803.... Also, I only have a scythe infinity so if I have to run super high voltage, I am screwed. Oh well.

god damit, i have to reinstall windows again because when i installed chipset drivers my internet connection wouldnt work... i just had to reset my router but noooooo... i uninstalled the chipset drivers , when i try to reinstall them it says they are installed allready...
another hour wasted...
also, this motherboard has crazy amounts of options, im going to be asking about them like all day :P
Aight, I'm getting an OEM off of newegg right away. Seems they still might have some older batches... THEY BETTER HAVE SOME.
im really glad i went and exchanged mine, i hope those l803/4 are not too bad you could always ebay the proc for $150(guessed price) and get a different batch
Ebay is a big nono for me, I got scammed when I was buying a motherboard for my PSP there...
I wonder if all OEM Q6600s ship from NJ, because if they do then I have a pretty good chance of stumbling on a good one...
I might also go to Fry's and ask if they have some of the lighter blue boxes left, which indicate a lower/better batch. This seems unlikely because last time the guy was like "I'll see if we have any in stock... we might have gotten a new shipment" -.-'
Anyone else quad has a lower vid than mine 1.20v? i am at 3.8ghz with 1.43v stable.
My L803 has a VID of 1.3V....
i have a L745B157 vid is 1.2125 iirc, does 4.0ghz 1.4v stable on water.
i couldn't break 3.8ghz with my Maximus Formula, so i threw it in a DFI LP LT P35-T2R and it'll hit 4.4ghz, but the temp get so high, 4.0ghz seems to be the best i can do with water and have a good margin of stability.
For now I am leaving mine at 3.2, too lazy to fiddle with it anymore.
i was lucky enough to be stuck 10 min between 2 frys so i picked the best one from 2 stores :D
nice
btw this board has HORRIBLE VDROP/VDROOP
in bios im at 1.35v.. in windows im 1.28v... then under load im 1.22v
edit: wow at 3.2ghz 2 of my cores are 59C and 2 are 53C... bad mount?
edit : lol im stable at 3.2ghz with only 1.23v
edit: the board im using is gigabyte p35-ds3l
edit: it seems increasing voltage in bios does *nearly* nothing to the windows voltage
EDIT: okay now i went and changed enhance performance bios option from normal to extreme.. now my load cpu temps are 2x54 and 2x48.. also the vdroop is not as bad now.. it only goes down to 1.23v
edit: nevermind about last edit it was a stupid mistake..
edit: 1.375 in bios, 1.248 in windows under load
did a remount, temps are still 5 degrees apart..
one of the cores is hitting 60C with only 1.25vcore under load... at 3.2ghz 8x400
thats really high for that >< i think i may have to lap it and the heatsink, and get some mx2
currently im using the cooling setup i have in my sig from my old rig. im using arctic cooling ceramic paste, maybe it will settle and ill have temps around 58C.. but still thats too high, i want to get 3.6ghz(4x900) 1.3vcore
hmm.. im in the process of trying 3.6ghz 9x400.. its stable so far but prime has only been running for just under half hour.. im going to leave it on for atleast 3 hours
anyways.. it hits 67C.. which is wayy to high if i want this proc to last me atleast 4 years. right? (its 1.28v under load)
i think i will be running it at 3.2ghz 8x400 like 1.2v for a year or so until i get a new gpu and will need to push this cpu
running 9x375 (3.375ghz) with ram ratio at 2.4 (900)
temps never go over 56C and the voltage under load is 1.26v
testing for stability.. if this is stable i will probably keep it at this for a long while
71c is what intel states as max temp.
in the post it says 1.28v under load :P
but in bios i think its like 1.41 or somefing like that
i feel sorry for your batch :( :(
1.5v seems like a lot to get to 3600. Are you sure it's the cpu that's causing the crashes and not your mobo settings?
Well my RAM is rated for DDR2 800 so I am running the FSB and RAM 1:1. I have +.1V on VFSB, +.1V on VMCH and .1V on VPCIE. What else do you think can cause the crashing because not being able to do 9x400 with 1.45V is ridiculous. Well the vdroop on this board is insane so when I say 1.45V, I am talking about the setting in BIOS.
Wow, these new batches suck monkey balls.
Lev, 67c is good enough for 24/7, because that's the highest temp you get with 100% load on all four cores, which is almost NEVER going to happen with everyday usage anyway.
When installing a cooler on a Quad-Core, make sure you're using the line method of applying TMI rather than the traditional dot in the center method.
i couldnt find any good tim so i had to use ceramic from arctic cooling
this stuff sux, and you cant really make a line with it.
ill remount when my mx2 comes from petras..
also what do you think of the northbridge cooler on this motherboard? worth replacing with something better?
OK, I installed that oem I got from newegg, batch L738A357 VID is 1.2375
The cpu was ordered Monday 4/7 so whether they have more of that same tray is anyone's guess. Kind of wish I'd got 2 now... good crunching chip :D
