I will be happy with that , I hope mine is as good as yours .

Got my 2nd GX2, returned the first one and got a direct replacement.
and it works! lets see how long this one lasts
I am not able to get my 9800GX2 to boot into Windows. It just stalls at the loading bar of Vista's loading screen. I have the proper WHQL drivers installed with proper removal of old drivers.
I'm using a Corsair 620HX power supply but it's the original version with only 2 6-pin cables. I shorted the remaining 2 open spots on the 8-pin and the card does show both green lights and does boot into Safe mode so I know the card itself works. I have Corsair mailing me a 6-pin to 8-pin adapter.
How did you guys know that your 9800GX2 needed to be replaced? Did it just not work or did it constantly crash/fail while gaming?
I have already called EVGA for help but they stonewalled me for not using a PSU with an 8-pin. Maybe I'll call in and tell them I have a proper 8-pin PSU and my system won't boot past the loading screen and then see what they say.
It seems like a lot of these 9800GX2 cards are needing replacements very early on.
slugzkea, there is always some % of cards that are bad. You just got unlucky. Not really XFX fault.
I'm finally in the club. Ran an 18069 on 3dmark last night. Q6600 at 3.72... and 725-1800-2150 on the GX2 (stock series)
Gonna try again with my GPU running 725-1850-2386. Fingers crossed LOL.
I'll post results.
My 2nd and replaced GX2 seems to oc 10mhz more on the core than my first one.
The pci fins were also bent out of allignment. when I was trying to put the card in, it would't go in! then i realized the fins were bent, jeez.
aw well at least it's still working!
hi, i have a evga 9800 gx2 and i have a problem with it. in the same day when i bought it, after installing the win xp pro the fan from the gx2 stop and the gx2 run into protection and shut down. i've stopped the computer and after 20 min i've open it again and the gx2 worked again without any thing for 2 weeks, when was i play crysis the fan stopped again and the gx2 shut it down. do you know what is the problem? i have the latest video drivers from evga.
Initially chuffed, but not so now. Fan set directly to 85% in Rivatuner. Sides off case and aircon on. Ambient still a bit warm. OC at 675/1676/1050
Tried playing Graw2 1900x1200 and it crashes out "nvspdll" or similar. Used to get the same error on my 8800 gtx in the early days, before I found upping fan speed sorted it.
Checked rivatuner monitor and it crashed out at 92 degrees. The bottom of the card is roisting. Idle is 55 sides off case and 60+ on.

Wow, 92c with 85% fan speed? That is damn loud and double the speed the fan is normally going at to keep the temps below 80c. Does upping it to 100% help any? Not that you should have to go that high just to keep the card running properly.
Glad I'm not the only one shocked by that cantankerous.lol
Have had it set to 100% for a few benches, but it's damn noisy.
Crashed out of graw after only 15 minutes at 85%, so I'm not overly confident that a 100% is going to make a huge difference.
That apart, it just doesn't seem right to me.
Have written to Inno3D, and will see what sort of feedback I get.
RLM
Edit: 100% did drop temps to 80c.
If your fans are stopping then I would contact the manufacturer and get a replacement asap.
That does sound pretty hot. I keep my fan at 80% and my temps at load usually around 70-76c.
Make sure you have excellent air ventellation otherwise just take the side pannel off and buy a cheap room fan and have it blowing at it or something.
I got a response back from XFX, appearently the first batch of 9800gx2's have been dieing everywhere, so it's a "normal" thing.
I hope my 2nd one doesn't go..but so far so good.
Here is my XFX 9800GX2.
3d06 174.74 XG, XP x86, 800Mhz/1998Mhz/2332Mhz - 23042 marks still on air:) I keep my fan at 100% and my temps at load usually around 70-75c, for 24/7 fan 80%, 720Mhz/1890Mhz/2200 65-70c when I gaming, 55-60c idle.

i've contacted the local store from where i bought the gx2 and they are testing it for a week ago and nothing happend and if nothing happend they will not replace the video card. and i don't know what to do.

Hi all what temps do you guys get when gaming ?? I seem to be hitting 85-90 with fan at 80% and oc to 700/1750/1000. Ive read that anything up to 105 is safe but still thats dam hot!!!
Do any of you use everest here?? And if so what temps do you get for VRM and memory on this card when gaming?
I didn't know everest showed VRM and memory temperatures, my everest only shows the gpu core temps.
Here are my results with my 2nd XFX:
I still don't see it, maybe my version of everest is older than yours.
You need v450.
