next up is to yank my Areca 1210 PCIe 8X raid card out of this puter and try it on the giga X48T board, just to make sure it will post and get into the Areca bios.
also, i will switch out video card to see how the 8800GTS performs.

Do yourself a favor guys, and when overclocking set all your memory timings manually ;)
hey Bill, did you encounter the bios ignoring RAS to CAS delay, RAS Precharge and Precharge Delay below 9?...i found the board will boot at 9 even though i have 7, 6 or 5 set in the bios...after getting into windows, i have to use memset to adjust those three to below "9"...CAS adjustment works correctly from the bios.
That's weird.
I don't remember having any issues like that.
As long as it lasted, it was obeying my BIOS settings willingly :p:
i found out my problem...it was MemSet!...it was in "Auto" and it had those previous settings saved....i haven't worked with MemSet for a while since it does not work on the most recent Abit mobo's.
Heh, I never use the Save function :D
"Accidents" can happen that way :p:
shew...learn the difficult way!:D
here are a few benches with the 'G0' Q6600, GSkill DDR3-1600 memory and a 8800GTS video card...the board works very well!
BUMMER...board died on me!...i was measuring the vcore and it just shutdown...didn't see any spark or didn't here any short noise...DARN!!:(
might jump to asus:D...this board is very good but now i have a hankering to explore!;)
ouch. .. picking the scab I see . . .
uhh . . about the asus . . well I jumped to the P5E3 Premium and so far I'm not convinced. As usual buyers remorse is telling me I should have left well enough alone, but I don't listen to my own advise. Anyway, there is just something not quite right about the asus board. It seems overly sensitive to bios settings and not posting just because and also I suspect drive corruption could be rearing it's ugly head. Nothing concrete, just a gut feeling at this point and some erratic behavior. I wish the IX48-MAX Tiger Force was out. I'd try that one instead at this pont. Asus has added so many controls to their most recent bioses that it's getting harder to just set stable yet permformance mided settings without major trial and error status. Like I said I'm not convinced. I even thought about maybe trying a 790i, but they are reporting some sata issues again like the old 680i ones maybe? and also some performance governors on certain fsb settings........................... Actually it's uglier than that it seems for the 790i (link below). . . . It's all giving me a headache.

i read some of your posts over in the asus thread...i got the same idea too!...anyway, ZZF would not give me full credit so i opted to just exchange...i won't use them again....their lost.;)
Have haerd quite a few bad things over time about these people, glad their over there & not over here :lol:Quote:

xgman , guess it's early days for both boards, after the extended wait, think we might have expected more mature bios from both manufacturers. Oh well ,somethings never change I guess
yep that was the reason for the delay in January , X48 delayed, thanks to AsusQuote:
Is it true that Intel stopped shipment on X48 based boards in order to help clear X38 stock?
Yep, then i think the extra time was taken in tweaking performance, not that i've particularly noticed anything so far. :shrug:Quote:
collusion...darn!
i found performance to be very close to the X38...the X48 might be tad easier to overclock the NB/memory.
I'm curremtly fighting to get 3.6k stable , something which is usually a dial it in & forget occurence. Occt stable but Prime failing on smalll ffts.
i tried P95 and it would not do it at 3.8 ghz on this board...i used the same CPU on the IP35 Pro at 3.8 ghz and it ran Prime 95 fine....there is a lot more on this board to discover...i bet the CPU and NB Skew settings has something to do with that.
i am not a fan of P95...i run wPrime 1024M bench...if it hacks that, i am happy.
were on the x38 version, which sailed prime & i didn't need to use them there. Only real difference i can see is we're in earlier in the game than i was with the x38 so bios is that much less mature. Though as there are so many similarities you perhaps might be forgiven for thinking that the x48 bios would be further advanced on launch with the experience of the x38 :lol:Quote:
CPU and NB Skew settings
it will hack that at least:)Quote:

well folks, i will have another giga X48T board in my hands by monday or tuesday of next week...i will jump right to the QX9650 when i get it.
anyone have a lead on buying a retail E8400 in the USA?
