that sm2 and even the sm3 score is nearly the same as my overclocked 8800gt!
This isn't the original 9800GTX that was scheduled to come out. Since ATI has nothing to compete with it, Nvidia is holding their true big guns back. I only hope R700 is a real powerhouse so that we'll finally start to see some nice items. As everyone else has already stated, this thing is just an overclocked 8800GTS 512mb. Nothing more.....
So glad that I bought a 8800GT.
Probably this card will be Xtreme overpriced.

A overclocked GTS 512 should be able to get a similar score.
damit, i hate this bench cause i cant tell what this score means lol.
overclock the CPU to 4GHz and lets see how it scales
Look here an oc'd GTS with a E4300 did a bit better.
Still only 128 shaders... so what's supposed to be the difference between this and OC'd versions of the GTS? At the very least the Ultra could claim a few architectural tweaks over the GTX. :shakes:
looks like we will have to go 9800gx2 for an upgrade
Well you could just overclock a 3850 to perform like a 3870 too.. this is always the case. There might be changes that allow this to overclock better than a GTS 512, similar to what NVIDIA did with the Ultra to clock it higher than the GTX.
I hope Nvidia has something better cooking or else AMD is going to walk all over them with R700 based GPUs the same way Nvidia did with G80.
this card better be effin cheap if its an overclocked 8800gts. its hard to justify even $399 when an 8800gts 512mb is how much now, like under $300. i still would like to see a crysis bench before i officially call it a bad card.
Pathetic. If this was a 9800GT it would be ok, but…
OMG, whatta crap:p: Just yesterday benchmarked my 8800GTS much higher.. and with 2 core CPU only.. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...4/06-14835.jpg
Damn, this is lame. Maybe it will perform better than the specs, they seem to have been tweaking the architecture of the PCB a bit but I doubt it...
Thats crap. My 8800GT while clocked more scores damn close to that score. Abit thats stock and if true, key word if, that has to be one of the worst updates to a better card. Toss in more shaders and faster shanders at least or something.
I dont know why people are suprised. Its still only a G92 core with higher clocks. The next gen is about 3 months off when R700 is due to be released.
You can't really tell from a simple 3DMark score what a card can do, lol.
3Ghz CPU is limiting any card like hell in this crappy made bench, even if it's a quadcore (3DMark06 hardly uses 2 CPUs in the graphics tests).
Will be more intresting to see what this card can do in fullHD res or with actual demanding games like Crysis. Even though for Crysis you won't be happy with high res and only 512meg Vram, as my tests with a 8800GT vs. my G80 GTS have shown. The GT just runs out of Vram sometimes and this one won't be better.
Well, think of it on the positive side: those of you who have an 8800GTX / Ultra are mighty happy right about now.

look before you post... especially when the post is 3 posts down.
Could it be that the 3dmark2006 calculator isn't calculating this result properly ? I get 13718 marks if I put in the numbers of the score...
i call bs. this can't be true.
somebody found a way to fake gpuz validations. or they just wrote a new bios for the 8800 GTS 512MB.
