Yes, almost the sense-making... Almost...
All I know is I look at Phenom rigs with Crossfired cards scoring lower than my C2D + 8800 GT and can't help but think "why would anyone buy anything else?"
This sounds liks a fun thread. Anyone keeping / making a ranking system? :) I will try to submit my scores soon.

I just wanted to be clear:
I'm not trying to start a flamewar. I really want AMD to do well. I used to be a huge fan. When I was ready to build my current rig though, I had no choice but an Intel CPU and an Nvidia graphics card. AMD just didn't have any competitive parts at the high-end. They seem to be doing well with the 3870 X2 though, and I really hope RV770/R700 and the followup to Agena do well. The more competition, the better it is for all us enthusiasts. I hope to one day build an all-AMD rig again. In 2006 I had an RD580 board, 2x X1900 XTXs in Crossfire, and an Opteron 175 o/c'd to 2.6GHz.
Yea there are a few guys here with the "best of both worlds" an INTEL rig and
an AMD, or a few of each. Thats the right approach IMO anyway. It's like
having a brunet wife and a blond girlfriend, everyone's happy for as long as they don't get to close to each other:D
Kar0nt3: Your score can be higher, your score will be low because you've left your HT too low (1GHz).
Try 8x NB and 8x HT multi, you should be good for that quite easily.

"EDIT**
P.S. @ ownage his cpu score is higher cause he's got 2 more cores then your Conroe'
your %100 right, minus 2000 points of his 3dmark06 run and then see his score.
rule of thumb for mild overclocks dual and quads
cpu score 3dmark06
dual core 2,000 +\-average
quad core 4,000 +\-average
keep this in mind when comparing systems and 3dmarks.
i was thinking wow to til i seen his was running a quad core.i get 3dmark06 11,700 (bone stock)evga gtx + overclocked e6600 at 3.6. with a q6600 simply add 2,000 more to that for overall score.
anyway nice thread and awesome amd clocks guys. my old opty 165 i have here(in my closet) on my old dfi ultra d would o\c to 2.8x2 on water
%100 stable.loved that setup but needed more cpu powa,so i went to the darkside
Make sure you close the 3dmark application before you over clock the card with
ati overdrive.
Set all 3d options to application preference.
Set mipmap details all the way to the left (performance)
There also might be some options in BIOS under "PCIe' that need to be changed.
Not sure exactly which ones, one with p2p write beetween GFX0/GFX1 should be (I think) enabled.
Almost forgot
Which OS are you using?
is it 64 bit? the scores are bit lower for 64 OSes I think.
You got a good result ,relax,it's quality over quantity
I don't agree with this at all. Perhaps it's true for AMD systems, but certainly not for Intel. I have a friend with a stock (for now) Q6600 that gets just over 3800 points for a CPU score, not even 200 points more than my o/c'd E8400. I'll be knocking on 4000's door when I finally get some decent RAM tomorrow and can continue to o/c beyond 4GHz (stuck @ 3.87 for now).
I am impressed with the recent ATI cards - some good scores there! Here is my most recent attempt: 12574

Puts me in second place for Phenom/GTS512...although Im certain that won't last long.
Hipro just took back (7?) world records using 3870X2's exclusively. With 9800 GX2 Quad SLI and 9800 GTX Tri SLI right around the corner though, I expect to see those records fall before the month is out.
One of the reasons why people get the crappy AMD hardware:rofl:
But seriously I can't answer for anyone,but myself :
one of the reasons to get an ATI card(s) - 38xx specifically, was the fact that the GPU Folding@Home Client should be out this spring.
There are no GPU clients for Nvidia in the works (as far as I know)
Hi guys,
I'm looking for some help or confirmation of a few things re: ASUS M3A32-MVP mobo.....
Does anyone know if the SB600 AHCI/SATA RAID Vista install problem and the SATA Optical drive issue, has been fixed or not.....
I am currently thinking about getting this mobo but I have 2 Seagate SATA-II NCQ HDD's in RAID-0 , and only have access to to 2 SATA DVD-RW drives...
I know there were problems with installing Vista under AHCI and that a SATA Optical Drive wasn't recognised as a boot device, when installed on the SB600 controller with the HDD's.....
I know the ASUS downloads says that BIOS 0801 has a fix for this problem, but checking through forums for confirmation suggests that the problem still exists, even with the latest 0902 BIOS.....
So I'm wondering if anyone here has been able to install Vista on this kind of configuration....
2 x SATA-II HDD RAID-0, SATA DVD-RW, Vista HP 64-bit.
Another question as well is after downloading and reading the manual for the mobo, I notice under the RAM section it saysI was hoping to install 4GB of RAM (2 x 2GB) PC2-8500..... but given that 2048/16= 128MB I'm guessing that this means that ASUS are essentially saying that their mobo does not support 2GB RAM modules, only 1GB modules....Quote:
*note 128MB chips not supported
I did see that Karon here has 4GB of RAM but theres no detail in any of the screenshots posted or in her sig, of how its made up.....
I hope someone may be able to confirm that the mobo will support 2x2GB and if so which brand and model #.....
OK I think thats it...lol...
I'm just trying to find out all the little problems before I decide to buy it or not, so would really appreaciate the help...
Many thanks
Kaz
Use Rivatuner 2.8 to set the fan and Enable overclocking..But use AMD GPU Tool to set the Clocks... it will perform so much better than using AOD for the 3870x2.
http://downloads.guru3d.com/RivaTune...nload-163.html
AMD Gpu Tool. and a How too:D
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=177639
Set the fan to 100% for benches and only enable Low level driver dont use it to overclock,,it will only do one GPU..GPU Tool you can set memory and both GPU's.
Note: Im scoring 13000+ @2400mhz now...It just takes time:up: Also enable APLICATION CONTROLED for ANTIALIASING and ANISOTROPIC FILTERING...you will get better performance than if you set it to Performance on those two.
Also leave ADAPTIVE ANTIALIASING OFF
let me know what you get..
P.S. Nice clocks guys/gals..i havnt had time to list everyones scores in order..I hope i will soon..
KAZGIRL....AHCI its very buggy...Also ive read and believe you set The RAID to Normal IDE for the setting and it will auto detect satas with the raid driver being installed before hand...AHCI bugs out. Im not 100% shure... Dont know about the memory ATM i always use 4x1gigs ..I switch between 32bit XP/Vista and XP64bit..

Good thing I saved the page first;)
