I try to take it all in stride..the degraded environment, the urban sprawl, the incresaed population density, cameras on very damn Controlled intersection even in the the sticks...

Well, I tend to be more radical only because I have no children and such so I understand what you are saying and you're motivation for that approach but sooner or later its all gonna come crashing down around us and that is the tragedy of the whole situation is that it is going to happen because they have been manipulating the game in their favor for decades now on a gradual level so its excepted and taken as fact just take notice to what the most popular TV programs on these days are its all got to do and intertwined with the American Legal and Judicial System because the more you see it through repetition the more it becomes excepted:yepp:

Hmm, I will say this.
One of my best friends is an actor in hollywood and my ex used to work for the grammy office here in chicago, so this topic is something that has been chiseled into my brain lol.
When we first started dating, she like everyone else, used to download music. When she was working there, this came to a hault. In a sense you see everyone in the industry just struggling. I saw it with my own eyes. People who who working so hard talking to promoters, talking to advertisers, settings up events, talking to agents, the artists themselves, and coming home in a rented apartment barely making 23k. It was really the people under the artists that just got hit so hard.
My other friend who used to copy movies like crazy until he got his big break in tinseltown and now he's completely against it. Were both hypocrits, yes, but eventually when they were faced with the same issues as others, they understood what was wrong.
Heck look at all of these out of work writers and stagehands, just because the ceos want all of the internet profit.
It all comes down to who owns what and whats stealing and whats fair.
I personally don't know why we as humans don't see the difference between the internet and physical properly. It must be the way we are wired. If we extrapolate this, I'm sure a thesis could be written ;)
I just don't think the government needs to be involved. Republicans are supposed to be about small government and fiscal conservatism, yet this president believes in massive spending and a government bigger than the population it's supposed to look over.
But you just solved the problem with what you said......The problem is Greed from the powers that be that force others to be desperate. I agree, big brother should have less say in this. The fines that people are suggesting are outrageous and frivolous to say the least. I remember the story about the judge who sued a dry cleaners for 64 million dollars because they lost a pair of his pants. I mean this is absurd.
In terms of my candy bar scenario. This would be like the store owner turning around sueing you for 25k because of a stolen candy bar.
The punishment should fit the crime, nothing more, nothing less.
Keep your pants on. This just a proposed bill. It hasn't even had a committee hearing yet. Since it is "still just a bill", keep in mind that lots of crazy laws get proposed but they don't all make it into law so this isn't a done deal yet.
