I got my Copeland unit today- brand new and sexah also. I got the last one I guess, as theyre listed as "SOLD OUT" on the site now. The Copeland units were an excellent find Dissolved! :DQuote:

Is there any reason why you wrapped your evaporators in electrical tape after they were insulated? I'm about to attempt the same thing with my maze 2 and waterchiller. :D
At another forum Marci gave me a cryptic hint as to where to find a certain piece of info and I presume he meant this thread.
So, does anyone know here I would find Builders Foam in the UK and how I can get it moulded into a block shround for condensation proofing a MOSFET waterblock?

to be honest i hate the electrical tape wrap...:( ..it was something i wanted to see if i could smooth the outside of the foam up with.not anything but that.just to see how it would do on putting up a moisture barrier.it will be redone,because it dosent make it to my standards.:rolleyes:Quote:

anyways i am just playing checking and adjusting like normal.i still have to come up with a nice outer shell.i can hand form them out of steel sheet metal like i have done on earlier projects but it is time consuming to do do.i am looking into making molds and pouring fiberglass shell's or i have been taking with a high tech company about purchacing some ceramic insulation you paint on.but the temps i run i dont think it will handle the low temp.
right now i am leaning towards mold's and fiberglass.as i have some experance with ceramic molds and supplies years ago.
yesterday was a day from hell for me at work as the next couple i am sure will be,so my time isnt the best for working when i get home in the mod shop..LOL
but last night i did add some .026 cap tubing to the .028 experiamenting with reducing the load for my triple evap i have running right now.they are running great incase anyone was wondering.i have pics of the unit working and load testing ,just last night i wasnt feeling too good so i didnt post them.
the load is still too great on the 3/4hp compressor i have running.i am moving up to a 1hp compressor soon as i can get it brased and mounted to a new condensor and my line valves are here to get it all connected.
this does open my eyes to the enormous load the evaperators will put on a compressor.as normally a 1/4 to 1/3 will handle a cpu evap and give you -50f temps easily.you would think mutiply that times 3 and 3/4hp would handle it,,,but nope it doesnt.there is a incremental increase for every extra evap you add ontop of the normal btu heat added.i will see if the 1hp can handle this much better.i hope so....
Under full load, are the three suction line temperatures roughly equal? A substantially lower suction line temp would indicate excessive flow through the associated evap and thus cap tube.

thats the problem with jumping foward in new designs and crossing new waters.
i need to now update my load test ablities so i can somehow load all of the blocks at once to check how each works and opperates as a team.thats the biggest problem i have making the 3 blocks act and work as a team.they are just like my kidds,each doenst want to play with the other...LOL
been another tough day for me today,so i am not going to get much done tonight i see.my parts for the 2 prommies didnt make it to work today either.another setback.

ok i have been busy this week(work is killing me:confused: )
but anyways worked on some prometias tonight.
i know i have been asked...what you do with that freon in a new unit....i try to safely remove it.as in this pic i connect to the system and remove it to a can,
this pic shows where i cut the high side tube to make ready for a new drier and charge port.these are all just preassembly pics as i will brase the units up tommorow morning i hope;)
this is the suction side where i remove the tube and replace it with a slighty longer tube with a slightly deeper bend in the pipe to help in the excess refrigerant,so it slows down coming back to the compressor.and i wrap most of the cap tubing at the bottom next to the liquid refigerant...
this one shows one with the hose being slip fitt tested and how it will run.

well raining here today so i have been working .
did get a second condensor assm brased up this morning.1hp this time.anyways when i start to brase i like to brase so i worked on 3 projects,2 prommys and my condensor.one prommy is under vacuum done.
anyways here is the new condensor assm with compressor.
well second pic is prommie with new extra capicaty drier shown and under a vacuum.if it holds this 28hg of vacuum for a day i will move to triple evac and then charge and test with 134a first.
ok last one for today maybe,i am going school shopping today so broke i will be;)
this pics is for a prommie i am installing baker GPU block and set this unit so 2 prommies can be run one over the other. had to figure extra hose and designed it so he can run 2 prommies on one system.

well i have been going crazy the last couple of hours trying to recalibate the prometia readout for a gpu mod i am doing.
you see when i take a new prometia and remove the head to replace it with bakers it isnt at all easy.the mechanical part i can do not a problem,but since you remove the head with thermistor installed you have to find a replacement to work with the prometia control.
i thought it was a std 10k thermistor(which i picked up from a pretty lady at radio shack yesterday)but it isnt.it is off slightly...makes the readout go 10c lower than it is.
so i have spent most of the morning going though trimmers and resistors untill i have got it pretty damm close:D
i am calibrating it with my simpson and fluke meters i have.i have gotten it within + or - 1c.
so now the control works great and i should be able to come up with a resistor to install to keep the beeping away if i need to.:cool:
