MSI 8800GT $208 @ Dell.com

Well just to add to the confusion about exactly what the real status is with these cards I first tried a Dell chat session. Here's a Q&D snippet:

Not thrilled with this response I then phoned Dell Sales and was told that contrary to what I was told by online support a card would be shipping for me on the 10th and my order had not been canceled. I guess I'll see what really happens on that date then make harder choices at that point of it remains vapor.

yes.. yess. now all i need is 60k more people to go ahead and cancel their orders, and perhaps i may just get mine in time :rotf:

seriously, that really sucks. i am thinking of cancelling, but a 88gt for under 200 is such an effing deal. i just hope dell doesnt pull a fast one and cancels my order because they dont carry them anymore.

Your order will typically stay in production -- they will eventually fulfill it.


When your expected ship date passes for the second time, you will get an email saying "action required, FCC requires that we get your consent to continue your order"

Just follow the directions or they will cancel your order.

Same thing happened to me with my HD3870. They had it in stock, I ordered, then they say it will ship on 11th Dec (this was two weeks ago). I tried the online chat BS and they cut me off, so I called and asked about my order. The dude on the phone was not specific, so I just canceled and snagged one from ncixus.com. Got my card in 4 days!

Those who ordered with me from Dell are still waiting. :(

The important thing is, if you keep on it they will ship you the card.

I got call from dell saying it could be dalayed into january because of the manufacture. He give me the option to cancel it, i did doh'. My 3870 should be here wednesday, it shipped from newegg today.

Combing through all the forums with a thread concerning this deal, I found two people who say they've received their card. And Dell sent one person an EVGA not an MSI card because they said thats all they had for stock.

In Dell's efforts to fulfill these many orders, I wonder if we all will be getting different brands of cards in the end?

Most of you arent going to get anything.... Not anytime soon thats for sure.

i waited over 2 months for my 8800 GTX, i got in on a sale where they actually sold it for retail!! lol. and then all the sudden the "usually ships in 2-3 weeks" turned into 2-3 months.


if you ordered one and you havent gotten your order cancelled then it may not, but you wont see the card for another 2 months atleast.

I got an email today changing my est. shipping date from 12-12-07 to 12-19-07.

Hi guys, try and bare with me here, bit of a lengthy story but I hope it can help the rest of you that were in a similar position as me:

Well, my order got cancelled "as per my request" according to an E-mail I received, 2 days before the estimated ship date (the 10th). Having done nothing of the kind I immediately called them and called foul. Basically told them they needed to make this right, so finally they found an EVGA SSC for $120 more that was in stock. Well turns out that what was "In stock" on their Customer Care screen and what was "In stock" when it came to putting the sale through were two different things and the actual sales inventory system said 'Not until mid March' So much for that... I call today, this time to sales to have them find a card that IS in stock for real. They find the 675 OC version of the EVGA which rings out to a whopping $379.00 before taxes/shipping. In the end, I got them to agree to kick in $120 on their end towards the card w/free next-day shipping, and an additional $60 or so on my end for the new card. With supply and demand being what it is that worked for me, I'd rather have the EVGA anyway and now I'll get it before Xmas. :) Good luck to everyone else.

After taxes it came to around $287

Ordered one EVGA 8800GT from dell on 11/29 and recieved it yesterday at it was shipped on the 10th. It's a sick card to say the least.

Total came to around $225.

Emailed Dell customer service today to see what they could offer as far as other 8800gt's in stock. Since the MSI card is an OC edition, I suggested they should replace with an OC edition, but we will see...

well. i got off the phone with dell and they mentioned that it's back in stock, and it should ship before or on the revised ship date. but that was an hour ago. im gonna see if they say the same thing on dell chat

first rep on the phone mentioned that they received stock of the msi 8800gt today, and they will start shipping.
now this rep mentioned that everything is go, and it will ship by the 19'th. i hope their right!

I just talked with one guy who said they got 3600 of 'em in, and they'll be going out on 12/17-12/19ish to fill the backlog. He did say that the system noted that there weren't enough to fill all the backlog, but by how much it did not specify.

I called them and was told mine would ship on the 17th.

funny thing. i told my friend about this deal as soon as i read about it. we placed orders on the same day (mine a couple hours before his), and he got a totally different e-mail. apparently his new estimated date was 1-11-08! mine was mentioned to be shipped on the 19th. he talked to the reps and he was told that they wont have any more in for him until atleast his estimated ship date! looks like i got in just before they started cutting people off!

Mines still in limbo, is the GTS going to be better? Im thinking about cancelling just because the new cards will be out in a few months I think.

The GTS512 is a better card but for $208 it's hard to pass up the 8800GT
