From the laing charts you can get a bit more flow at the cost of some (very small reduction) head pressure but from what I remembered from looking at the graphs most of the increased flow won't be realizeable in a actual loop.
Not sure if you wanted the modded top for improved performance (pressure/flow) but for those wanting more there's the MD-20z and RD-30 which is attainable without overclocking the fairly reliable D5, one of the main reasons people chose the D5 over the MCP355 to begin with.
At a significant price premium... and they're also a touch on the large side to get to fit anywhere useful in yer average case.Quote:
there's the MD-20z and RD-30
Not to mention the clutter and price involved in their power requirements.
meh
85$ D5 + 50-60$ pump top + seal ring (guessing here) = $135-$145
A MD-20Z is $179 from Customaquatic and will be running within it's manufacturer design limits and for all intensive purposes be significantly more reliable than even a stock D5.
Dunno about the RD-30 since I don't have one but it's just as bulky once you figure in the extra PSU.
I don't think anyone trying to shoehorn in a PA120.3 or two will be using a mid size case, most are looking at full towers at the minimum and others looking at Cube's.
I might be interested purely from an aesthetic perspective and depending on price (£10 / $20 sounds reasonable).
If chilledpc makes one. I'll take one. Nothing fancy, just the ability to use any barbs we want. I bought one of their TC grills and it really wasn't that outlandish in terms of price, even with the poor currency coversion rate and shipping, it came out to about the cost of a kikbox grill, the only other one(with mounting holes for the case) available for TC rads. The quality is pretty decent too.
put me in for 1.
May I remind you not all of us live in the "Land of the Cheap".
Have a look on the UK prices of the Iwaki distribution channel.
Last January I got a quote for that pump. £230. That's $470 for joo.
If you want to get it from the US, find someone that ships overseas, add $50 shipping, $35 customs clearance fixed fee by ParcelForce and 17.5% VAT on top. That's if HRM Customs are having a good day. On a bad day expect two weeks delay and import tax.
And if the pump fails, enjoy the RMA procedure, because the "local" distribution channel is going to wash their hands on the subject and let you deal with it where you bought it from.
Now, shall we focus on the matter at hand?
Gotta admit - the Koolance top does look sexy. I'd take 2 if there's a delrin version.
did I miss something or has this been cancelled?
I want one :D hell I want three :) Ill give all my PCs a makeover
Yeah, the excitement kindof died. I hope someone, somewhere is working on a solution and alternative to the koolance unit.
I dunno. Is an aftermarket top even a performance-based consideration? Does it improve head pressure/flow rates on the D5 ? I don't know, but I would guess not. I honestly would rather buy double the number of D5s than spend money on an aftermarket top and new barbs. Double the pumps means redundancy and much desired additional pressure.
Like said before, D5 Vario.. $85. All-in aftermarket top price.. about $140 to $150.
Well, I wanted the tops for the D5 to use the 12mm push-in fittings without having to use funny adaptors.
However, seeing that this was a "one night butterfly", I think I'll go down the DDC route, and see if I'm one of those who posts a "oh woe is me" thread...
