Issues with NForce 550 Chipset.

I placed an AMD Stock fan at 5V aimed at the chipset. That it's wrapped on the motherboard with 2 plastic things was already known. When i move it i can move it easily without any trouble, which is a bad case. I've installed the Molex-connector on the motherboard ofcourse.

Is there anyone that archieved higher FSB's using a 0.375Voltage increase? So passed over 300MHz using that high voltage?

I might spend some money on 400MHz Modules (DDR 2 800) so i just archieve extra performance by the newer kitt... Anyone using different on these boards then Corsair? So far it works just fine.

I might consider a waterblock for my North/Southbridge chipset, since everything except that is watercooled :P

Have you tried the CPU to NB voltages @1.30 and 1.32v? Somtimes it only takes a lil extra volts to make stable or even destabalize a system ...if you are playing around with the CPUtoNB voltage raise is only one step at a time and maybe try running thru your Ht settings .

Example try 2x 3x 4x 5x ,or some boards read the HT as,100 200 300 400 500, usualy a lower Ht will keep the system more stable and allow for higher FSB....Some boards like High HT where others may work best with lower HT settings... Take your time and always adjust one setting at a time.....I always write down what works and what dosnt .. this will help elimanate settings one at a time:up:

Note: before i start anything i make shure the CPU and Northbridge are with in my temp range...Hope this helps

yeah i increased here and there the voltages but doing 0.3v won't solve my issue i guess. So far only 1 guy posted his HTT over 300MHz in here but without the same motherboard. So it's very questionable if this is the issue on the motherboard or not.

The handy function of this board when a oc fails, it will use default settings but it keeps the setting you've entered in the bios, making it easy to go back in the bios and adjust things.

I have mobo MSI K9N-Neo ver2.0(MS-7260) and I have no cpu voltage under bios. Is there any way to unlock cpu voltage settings on this mobo?

Well good news from gigabyte again!

They said they where going to test the issue with the board themself. See if they can across the 290HTT fsb issue! If they fix it , or know what the issue is, they are going to send me the bios!!

Awesome! Never had any more support like this from a motherboard manufactor!

kool good to here gigabyte is actually willing to do something about ur bunk board...Even if a bios update comes out I think ill be happy to just leave my current bios for known reasons :p

P.M me or start a new tread and will go over Installing a Platinum Bios 1.6 or 1.7 for The K9N-Neo-f that is 100% stable with all devices funtioning ,Including the USB's:up:

Ive been running the Platinum Bioses on K9n-Neo f for over 1year 100% stable and Overclocked...

It will enable Pci lock Control and Higher Vcore ,it allows too a run 5600+:yepp: It should work for 6000+ aswell, i havnt tried but i Know it works for the 89watt and lower X2's :up: 125watt 6000+ may be pushing ...Id test it but dont want to dismantle my 6000+ and put in my other machine to check ,its lotta work ..:yepp:

Note: Good to hear GIGABYTES on top of things!

? Would it fit? It might be in conflict with my Videocard since a zalman northbridge heatsink woud'nt even fit too.... I might consider a waterblock that would not hit my Videocard considering that chipset is right under the PCI-E slot...

and 5000Rpm sounds like a lil troublemaker :P

A swiftech waterblock for Nvidia chip set may work.. the brackets it comes with alow for various mounting options and i believe PTS has them ..

however i'm not sure if they sell that item here in holland. It looks like it has the perfect dimensions without harming the PCI-E videocard.

I got another reply from Gigabyte again. They say they tested out the board and came without any problems at 300MHz HTT/FSB. So far it's looking like the only problem might be my memory, but its always underclocked so it shoud'nt give any problems.

I made an interesting discovery today. I purchased some Corsair CM2X1024-5400C4 and now my board is not stable above 250HTT no matter what voltage I give it or how relaxed my timings are but when I put my generics back in the board had no problems going to 340+ again. My guess is 100% ram related.

So what was the brand that you used without the corsair-set? This defenitly looks like some corsair issues with certain timings or speeds....

I had 2 samsung based IC chips and 2 elixir (nanya) IC chips so yes it looks like a corsair problem...I was going to try to flash the SPD module and see if that made a difference but don't have the time atm...

I'll try to seek another module from somewhere to test this out. I hope it really is the issue so i can trade back in that pos corsair :D

after 2 weeks of fiddleing I can get the board back to 300mhz FSB but nuthin ovr that with corsair crap but generics are fine. That figures get faster RAM but lose clock cycles. FCUKING MOBO!!!!

I know the RAm is good for 800 @3-4-4-9 @ 2.1V easy so it's nt the ram

To give this thread a final notice on how things went: It worked!

By replacing the Corsair kit i managed to get it seemless on 300MHz HTT without issues.

I'm using 4x512MB 800MHz DDR2 / CL4-4-4-12 instead of the Corsair 2x1GB 4-4-4-12 kit.

I'm a happy tweaker now :)
