Timings are actually not the best way of looking at the latency, you guys see 8-8-8- and think the performance will be crap, point is this may be at 2000MHZ so you have to look at the actual ns rating at that speed to see what is going on.
I added some info to an article Kris wrote showing latency as different speeds,over here which shows CAS latency and the effect raw speed has on the actual latency its self.
If you look close we are already doing better than i hoped with this Micron DDR3 so infact its actually faster than DDR2 in broad terms.
