P35 Chipsets feature 2 x PCI-E x16 slots. One @ x16 mode & one @ x4 or x1 mode.

This board looks pretty sweet. Unfortunately i probably won't be able to afford it. Just like the overpriced 680i LT. Still..... it's a sweet looking board.

No squeals from my Dark. This board has actually been very trouble free. Probably one of the easiest trouble free boards i've owned to date. An excellent motherboard for the price.

My Expert board just came out of my box last night and this is the first non D.F.I board I have owned in a long time but I bought it just 2 day's prior to the release of the D.F.I LP 680 LT so not much I could do about that! But I most certainly would have opted for the D.F.I 680 LT instead thats for sure, but all and all this EVGA board is really nice but I miss my Lan Party board (sniff) :yepp:

P35-T2R looks sweet...Although I'll be awaiting the toned-down and cheap Infinity TYVM as it's going to be $140-160 per DFI's roadmap while coming out at a similar time. It doesn't look to be lacking anything other than the than 1 Lan port, the second raid controller (it will still use ICH9R), and the fancy heatsink.

With the extra crosslink chip not present as you pointed out, this board seems to be a standard p35. Tony mentioned in the thread you linked there's an 8% gain in crosslink x8 x8 vs x16 x4. I wonder if the price of that board will warrant it. Would be interesting if it could get close to 975X crossfire performance.

Its not the powersupply thats causing it. I have used the antec TPT 650, seasonicM12, antec neo (not the best I know), and finally the X-3 1KW and it still does it. Mine has never been that loud but its still there when ram is loaded. And the vtt voltage doesnt change anything either.


These new boards look really good, I hope they come out with a good NB cooling design, the 965-S was actually really good. Simple and got the job done.

BTW TBH I'm more impressed by the CPU knowing how much part it takes in FSB wall.

Its in the lab! Not a production model in the field. I'd like to see what Victor can do with a Q6600 and 4x1gb sticks of ram on this board. I'm very leary of DFI anymmore they are good at building up product then releaseing boards that have to be rma'd twice to get a good operating one and still dont OC as well as claimed. I've been thru it thru 2 very previous boards. If its proves to be as good an OC'er as proposed then it will be nice indeed.

Please dont take forever on this board.

DFI constantly seems to be the very very last to the market with some board... and often its so close to the end of that particular chipsets lifespan, that theres very little interest in the boards themself after a week.

965 dark - great boards, easily near the top 2-3 965 boards ever.
but already outshined by the P35, so it only had like a month of real world overclocking around it.

DFI 680i - its out there... but theres very little interest in it... 680 is old news around here, and the various low overclocks compared to the P35, just make it "so-so", theres alittle interest in it... but not much.
it just came out way too late.

I'd hate to see this board come out in 4-5 months... when the X38 is coming out, and just end up on the tail end of the P35's chipset life.
I want more then 3 weeks with a DFI board, before something better comes out.

Forgive me for being a cynic, but I cannot help but imagine a skip full of discarded boards next to Oscar Wus desk before he found this one. I hope I'm wrong, but I know from experience you need a sence of humour to own a DFI board! (which hasn't stopped me from owning three in the past)

It seems like this is the truest thing said about DFI in this thread. Even with the last AMD 939 boards they were so late that they didn't matter.

Victor, any chance of relaying this thought to DFI?

i agree with the posters up top, DFI has not put out a champion since the Lanparty SLI-D / Ultra-D for the Athlon 64 systems.

lets hope this will turn em around.

I agree completely with Luihead about this board, it's fast so I don't really care about anything else annoying. Find me another P965 board that runs 530+ fsb on 1066 strap like cake, even the Quad GT has trouble over 530. Not to mention throughout hours of benching I never have to reset the CMOS. Hell last night I forgot to switch from 2:3 to 1:1 when I went up to 500fsb, but the board booted right up and I could get into the BIOS and simply switch ratios. With my old DS3 I would've spent ten minutes getting everything back to normal.

The BIOS can be a little daunting at first, but that's the fun. I'll be first to admit that I don't know what every single sub timing does, but I sure have fun playing with them. Not to mention what other board let's you play with GTL or driving strength in the BIOS.

it also matters how your hearing is. ive been half blind most of my life, and the squealing will wake me out of a sleep due to my hearing. i hate it..

so isn't it using digital power regulation as opposed to analogue, won't that mean all the parts that cause the squealing are pretty much gone? i forgot to check the pic for what its using for mem power, digital too but memory will use far less juice anyway and you'd assume power issues + squealing would mainly be caused by the cpu power circuitry?

guys wait for the retail version and see if u can do 10000FSB dont look at this one is not retaillll

A power supply can definitely assist in the squealing as it is the dirty power coming into components that causes it... the first 3 units there are all multiple rail PSU's with under 20A on each 12V. The Ultra X-3 is a single rail design but all ultra PSU's, while performing within spec, do not have particularily clean DC output. The X-3 in particular, when loaded lightly, as it would be in most systems, has rather dirty output:

499W

While the board has something to do with it no doubt, the power supply it is paired with could make a huge difference, and is not so easily ruled out. With one PSU it may be intolerable and with another it could be just fine. ;)

I hope they stay true to what they said about the x38 board and that it hits the market asap.

This p35 chipset is already a bit late 2 the market hopefully it won't be a repeat of the 680i or even p965.

eh, i'm giving dfi until e6550's become available. if by then, they don't have a good p35 out, i'm going with whatever's best

aww too bad its digital VRM... i dont think i ever want a digital VRM board again, lots of heat and lots of droop.
hopefully this 8-phase setup is designed well enough to handle load better then current designs.

Thats so true.... If Oskar was handpicking hardware for this test, its not the mobo but a whole crapload of C2D lol..... I bet that same board wont do 560fsb with my E6600:D, if it can then Im buying one for sure.......
