So if I order an E6850 now ( it's on preorder in Holland for 360 euro's around 290 dollars) would I get a G stepping or are these only with the ES models ?
and are the Q6600 from July also new steppings? And how do you know you'll have one?You need to ask when pre-order?
Are al the processors migrating to the G0 stepping? or only the new ones?
Regards!
Nice clocks man. I wish I had a p35 to run one of these. ;)
and there was a 6850 with E0 step but i think it's been canned for servers and desktop chippies (which should all end up being G0...i think)
i thought that was the whole point of this new rev at 65nm ? new stepping provides speed bump for existing conroe chips...and less heat
C2D E6850 ES Step 9 E0
C2D E6850 G0...for retail? Q3 07 (22nd July?)
i also thought that q6600 were going down to 266 on july22..but only the older stepping versions:confused:
if you can get a q6600 G0 step on 22nd July for 266 usd that'd be nice.Quote:
Intel announced a new revision (stepping G0) of the Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor. Compared to the stepping B3, the CPUID changes from 06F7 to 06FB, the S-Spec from SL9UM to SLACR but most of all the TDP is reduced from 105 to 95 Watts. One of the consequences of this new stepping is that in the guide for motherboard manufacturers, (the FMB), the Santa Clara based manufacturer says that the Q6600 is now also supposed to work with Mainstream and not only Performance motherboards.
Now, the thing is that the price, $530 (while waiting for the price reduction to $266 in September), is far from being "Mainstream". Interesting point, the Xeon 3210 and 3220 will also beneficiate from this new revision and their TDP will be reduced in the same proportions. This new s stepping G0 is scheduled to be released mid-July.
45nm penryn later on at Q407/Q108 - another speed bump for wolfdale.
@irev210
Are you showing us that E6550 can do better at let's say 3.6Ghz with 1.29v than E6850? Are you able to reach same clock and vcore with E6850 as you can with E6550?
I will be getting one of these E6850, I surely will have much more fun with it than with Q6600 for $266. I'm waiting for E6850 benches ;)
I'd love to see retail "G0" results. It seems that "ES" chips consistently do better than their retail brothers.
some of the best core 2 Duo Step B chips are not ES.
I think the G0 ES does an excellent job of showing the progress Intel has made with the Core 2 Duo.
While retail units will not replicate these samples, some will do better, others will do worse, simply because there are MANY more of them.
Will the 6x50 chips work on the original badaxe?
g0 will have different sspec
I'm a little confused about the information presented here.
So on July 22nd the new E6850 processors coming out with 1333FSB...will they ALL be G0 stepping and will the $266 price cut be in effect for them?
eh, I wouldn't be surprised if first gen g0's released to market were quite good as well, or at least similar to these ES models. That said, I've owned a 17a e64 es that wasn't too spectacular. Did 3.6 with 1.5v, which was definitely decent for its day and expectations back then.. but we all know how the later 28b's trounced it.
