Who cares if the PS3 is being counted as a Blu-Ray player, if that is in fact what you are saying, it IS a blu-ray player after all. I have has the joy of installing this unit and the JVC DLIA and they are both stunning.
I still think Sony is corporatly mental, but saying they have nothing going for them is just plain wrong. The PS3 is a decent machine in my opinion, and I have one. It will only get better as well.
Well in case you haven't noticed, forums like this one, and forums like avsforums are not for the average person. They are not going to spend hours upon hours researching and waiting for people like us to scrutinize everything down to the finest detail before buying a piece of electronic equipment. There definitely are better products out there than what Sony has to offer, I'm not denying that, but if I am not mistaken they also cost more. You really do need to stop calling me a fanboy as well. Do you know how many Sony products I own? Just the PS2 and PS3. I will be the first person to tell you that the Wii is good, and so is the 360, they both have unique features and are good systems in their own right. I myself simply prefer what the PS3 has to offer over what the Wii and the 360 have. When I buy an HDTV later this year I am not going to review just the Sony TV's and go, yep that's the one for me, no, I'm not that stupid. Just because I am trying to say Sony has good products and I like the PS3 more than the 360 and the Wii does not make me a fanboy, so shut the hell up with that crap.
All I am saying is Sony may have messed up over the years they have been around, but so has anyone else. They have also offered great products and service and did a KILLER job with the PS1 and PS2, I for one am not going to start saying they are shlt just because they have had a rough few year or so and the PS3 is off to a rocky start, I am going to give them a chance.
I'm not giving them a chance. The ps2 was disappointing it's entire life and the ps3 is downright junk so far. I have a sony TV LCoS TV. It's alright and got decent remarks at AVSF but it's certainly not the best.

Just look at the PS3 build quality compared to the XBOX 360. PS3 has one tank of a PCB compared to the 360. PS3 is just new and expensive, lacks games people want.

Well, if this death of HD-DVD and permanent switch to Blu-ray happens. Then Sony has zip to worry about. PS3 sales will rise and they have the money (i think) to float it for that long.
Well I bought a PS3. Here were my reasons:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Metal Gear Solid 4
3. Final Fantasy XIII
4. Blu Ray Player
5. Linux/Crunching/HTPC thingamabob
I mean... seriously, GT5 and MGS4 are going to be THE pinnacle of ALL gaming in 2008, be it console, PC, whatever. And yes, that is just my opinion.
