Has anyone reported Max FSB on these with a P35? I just got mine and after I try my q6600 on it, I may have to get one of these babys to play with.
How much can these take heat? I'm now running at 2.5GHz and load temps are 68 according to the coretemp 0.95. I'm using the copper core boxed cooler from my old P4 630 with a thin layer of AS5 on the cpu.
i can do 393x 8 with my e2140, orthos stable but the max i can memtest with is 375x8. Never tried a lower multi. vcore is 1.55 in bios and cooler is scythe infinity with revoltec airguard 120mm(18db) temps are maxed 58 C and i used coollaboratory pro liquid metal on both the cpu and cooler. I'm living at the attic here so room temp is fairly high ( around 24-27 atm ).
my main board is a gigabyte p35 ds3p and mem is d9gmh ( sucks  )
ram is memtest stable is 1125 with 5-4-4-8. wont do 4-4-4-8 nor 5-6-6-18 at higer speed.
now i've lowerd the vcore to 1.375 in bios. still testing orthos. temps are around 45-50 depends on room temp. if i set vcore ti 1.3500 volt my memory cant pass memtest but run's orthos without any problems. vdimm is still 2.3v
i have to say i'm pleasantly suprised with this cpu. this cpu + single 7800gtx = 5211 3dmarks 06
amd3700+ @ 3ghz + sli = 6301 3dmarks 06
Got my E2160 yesterday.... of course once again "suprisingly" schaisse individual for me ...3,1Ghz wit 1.4Vcore, Zalman 7700AlCu. Have to test some more if even that is surely stable. More volts and the temps are of the roof >75C. Mobo MSI P35 Neo. HS is one fu#in groocked politician.
Edit:Orthos Large FTT Ram test stable 2.6GHz ...this one is truly great!
Running at 3.0GHz atm :) Pretty pleased with this cheapo cpu. I ordered a Tuniq Tower and I'm planning to lap the cpu's HS so I'm pretty sure that atleast 3.2GHz is possible then.

Just ordered 2 e2140's. They should be here friday, and so i have the weekend to muck about and see what they can do. Once i get them, i will post back with there results. Basically gona run the best one on my main rig, and run the slower one else where. haven't figured that out yet, heh

hi, can someone help me by running pcmark05 with this processor at any speed u r now.. just wanna get some idea the difference between these processors and others..
thx a lot!
Here u go
395mhz x 8 @ 1.37vcore

400mhzx8@1.37vcore. Managed to run Pi 4 million. Freeze on Pi 8mil run. Will tweak further. All tests were done on Gigabyte P35 DS3R

Just upgraded from a S754 Sempron and this thing has been easy to clock so far.
From 30 minutes after I plugged everything in.

Not bad for having next to no experience with C2D and using the stock HSF. :)

ASUS P5W DH
E2160
TUNIQ TOWER
GSKILL DDR2 PC6400 HZ
Boot with 500*8 with my E2140, but the at the postscreen the system stops booting :(

I Was wondering, how do the compare to AMD's - I mean this one dosent have advantage of more cache, so in every day life/Gaming does this little conny still beat the cra out of a Windsor or Brisbane?
I will get images for this, but both turned up. Both have the same package date(05/14/07). Both have the same FPO# code : L702C621
Only difference i can see is on the black part on the pcb, where one says A1519, and the other is A1539. I can only presume that means one is chip number 19 of the wafer, and the other is 39. Maybe someone can tell me.
Both are FSB walling i think. 19 is at 394mhz FSB, and 39 is 389mhz FSB. Anyone got some tips on getting over it. Gona fit up the watercooling later to see if it helps.
Still, both are on stock volts at this point, and i am using a DFI CFX3200 T2R motherboard. Tried some voltages, but not too much. Be back later with pics

mine is package date 05/03/07. fpo# q702a498. iv'e been playing with this chip for nearly 5 day's In the first hour i found the max. This is insane, 8x375 is no problem, it can do this even at 1.26 volt. But it wont go any higher. not even with 1.55 volt and beyond. temps atm are 35 degree's stressed.
Right. I am no genious when it comes to understanding CPU's and motherboards, but what about the FSB strapping?
I was thinking maybe we should build a list of fsb wall, cpu and motherboard, as I was thinking maybe there is a way that they go out of sync with the fsb the 2mb and 4mb ones do. Also it is the allendale PCB and the conroe silicon.
Maybe i am just hoping, but both mine are doing it at 394 and 389mhz. The next fsb is every now and then it works, and 2mhz up it never works.

Yeah just checked again and the stepping is correct [L651B***].
Hmmm this may explain my high temps!

Would seem my E2140 chip is concave as you can see in the photo there was no contact whatsoever between the heatsink and the centre of the IHS?
I refitted it this time using the pea-blob method and will leave that for a week or so but I think this CPu may need lapping lol! :D
I dont think it's the mainboards that refuse to cooperate. even with quad core's the p35 can handle up to 500 fsb so these should be a piece of cake. It's the cpu, just like with coldbug on the athlons. there's no acurate way to predict where your cpu is fsb walling/coldbugging. some steppings are better than others but you cant be certain.
Great value these me think ...
100% overclock :)

Made this for a long needed upgrade for a friend. TTBT for cpu, NB has an AMD stock cpu cooler Delta fan cable tied on since it is a pretty plain case and doesn't have exceptional airflow. Paste used was MX-1.
E2160 FPO # is 49A, OCZ Titanium Alpha DDR2-1000, DFI P965-S, Corsair 620HX PSU, Sapphire x1950pro 265 MB, some ooold Seagate IDE drive thats still in use.
Ambient temp was 36 degrees Celcius. Stays stable at 25 degrees ambient but needed +25 mV in BIOS to hold up under my torture test at 36 degrees ambient. Stays under 1.35 v after droop.
Ram was 445 Mhz 4-4-4-10 2T@ 2.1 V at 200 mhz strap. CPU is E2160 FPO is 49A.
I'm pretty sure it can go faster but everything here is warrantied still, this is a 24/7 end user PC. The FSB seems
to mess up at about 400ish, even if I adjust the strap and memory settings. Haven't tried to overvolt the NB or VMCH either. 49A seems to do well, I tested this gaming too and seems rock solid stable, no problems reported from friend.

Just test E2140 on abit AB9 QuadGT today.
Here are the preliminary results
Will update soon!
my E2140 seems to top out at ~380 FSB :(
Even with multi of 7 it won't be able to clock higher.
Hope my Mach I can help a bit ;)
Hello,
I bougth the E2140 and E2160 a while ago and begon to overclock those little things.
With my E2140 i come on 400 x 8 with 1.200VCore, any higher the 400 FSB and he will not boot ? Even if i give hem 1.3, 1.4 , 1.5 even 1.6VCore...
Very strange to me ... I can get 407 x 8 but then windows freezes after 4-5 min...
My E2160 can boot on 333 x 9 with standard VCore, for 3.2Ghz i need 1.4Vcore, for 3.4Ghz i need 1.5Core, and with 1.55VCore i can get to 3.55Ghz but also then he freezes after a few minutes...
Batches:
E2140 = L702C646 [PACK DATE 05/14/2007]
E2160 = Q701A171 [PACK DATE 04/25/2007]
My knowledge about the batch numbers is 0% , so can somebody say to me what i can do ?
Anyone got M0 stepping yet ?
Check here for the physical comparison with older L2 stepping.
