I'm in the middle of deciding whether I should get a P4P or P4C myself. I've got a 2.4C and it's hit 289mhz 3dmarkable on my 8KNXP but this board just doesn't have enough bios options for me. Although I love the features on it, I want better overclocking. I believe macci had said that the P4P is good for running over 300mhz fsb @ 5:4--and the P4C can't do that. I'm really pushing for a solid 4ghz on my 2.4C.... so I'm thinking P4P. I would need a 334mhz fsb for 4ghz. I know that's getting up there, but it could be possible.
Ideas? Suggestions? Thanks.

I cant get the IC7 over 295fsb with my good chip, and the P4P does the same 315 fsb on my 2.4 so my chip is maxxed out.
The P4P nor the IC7 will run in my vapo just sticking them in. I have to use 2 power supplies to make those boards run, And hit the power button when it get's to temp.
I was leaning towards the ic7, but i think i am back to leaning towards the p4p800. How easy was it for you to get to 300 fsb? That is my goal under my mcw5000-pt.Quote:

Im about to hook my promedia up to this 2.4, see how it goes. Im hoping to get at least 3.8-3.9 out of it. Maybee ill hit the 4GHz mark.

Well the chip is pretty decent... 3D @ 289mhz... 1086mhz oc with 1.6v and aircooling.... I think with a good enough mobo and some LN2 it can hit it.Quote:

Just got a 2.6c, Dont have high hopes for it. wont even boot @ 3.2 with 1.7 volts. Oh well going in a customers computer. Gotta keep trying.

I had the same Pelt waterblock you have, Used to use it with my 2.8b, I get the same clock as my vapo, and about the same temps, just less power usage and more piece of mind running 24/7 and away from home

Good luck with it! Like jinu117 said, prepare for warm room!! My room is hot as hell with those pelts running. I also have a large heatercore from autozone with 2 120s on it and Pro Core with a 120 on it. My temps at 3.8ghz are about 2-3C idle and 27C full load. This is with MCW5000-PT and MCW50-T.
It's a nice setup, I got mine up for sale now though, just ordered my first prommy.:)

Not totally related but I could tell you what mine was runninig like. Meanwell set at 13v.
Eheim 1250 dedicated for CPU loop.
1 Chevette HC with shroud/ 1 D-tek Procore with shroud in line with 120mm papast low fan running at 9v outside of case. p4 2.4b @ 1.70-1.75 running @ 3.6ghz or so. (not quite sure on voltage... my memory fades... it turned out to be about 150W on some CPU calculation stuff) would be below freezing point under idle and under full load would hit up to 19c. Keep in mind air flow is highly optimized with radiators outside of case.
The other loop was running Eheim 1048 with MCW-50PT BIX rev2, etc, etc. Couldn't tell what temp but ran very cool :)

Thanks for the suggestion. It realy seems like you just can't miss with any of these 3 boards. I think i am going to stay away from the is7 because my friends is just horrible. I think it is defective...wait i know it is...but he doesn't care so he won't rma it. It seems that without the memory preformance enhancers on the is7 is a good bit below the ic7 and p4p800, and i see all kinds of hd corruption when it is enabled at high oc's. It also seems to be pretty unstable with mem enhancers on at high oc's, and they don't yield much gain at high fsb. I think I am just going to get the ic7. Gotta wait for a good deal though :D, anyone want to give their's up eheheh?Quote:

what mem and proc is that? what fsb are you at, or is that a 1:1 divider.
edit--> nm i see that stuff in your sig. I think that the ocz did was the problem with my friends is7. well not ocz, but just that specific set of sticks he got. I am almost positive it is bad mem. I think i still want to get the ocz gold though, I think all of the mem problems have been cleared up, so it should be fine.
The IC7 is faster CLOCK for CLOCK. I just cant seem to get my IC7 up as high as my IS7. But what i do get it up to makes up for the 2% difference. Im using a IS7-e 5:4.
I thought about the OCZ gold, just need to see some more people with it. And hoping for Price to drop. I usually unload my "pretested stuff" ie.... used ;) hehe in customers computers.
Hard to unload $200+ worth 2x256 memory though!!! unless i just :smileysex to them
