For 500MH FSB (1000 DDR) 4-4-4-12 is a bit too aggressive for these modules.
I can easily do 4-4-4-12 running at 400MHz FSB @1T but that needs a slight bump in the NB voltage.
There is minimum real world difference anyway between CL4 and CL5, it's the higher C2D clocks that make the most difference.
Just run it at CL 5-5-5- 15/16/17/18 at 2.1-2.2v max, better to max out the FSB clocks than just low latency timings.

At what voltage is your NB? Mine (P5B Deluxe) is at 1,45V, a little high perhaps?

I had 7 sets of NQ and only one did't work fully stable at 500 MHz...
Two the best sets:
1) 500 Mhz 4-4-4-13 2,4v (P5B Deluxe)
2) 533 MHz 5-4-4-13 2,25v (P5N32E)
Close, it's a 650i SLI board as shown on the page 2 screen dump, currently 1.39v NB, 60mm fan on NB, 80mm fan cooling the memory modules.Quote:

The pair I have can't quite reach 533MHz at any voltage/timings.

5-4-4-15 compared with 5-5-5-15 gave the rig a nice boost of between 300MB-400MB increase on the buffered int/float scores.

These 3 scores are on 3 different sets :) I had one set that did almost 580 MHz... but I haven't got screen :(
These settings are bootstable at 2,35V i will do some benches and CL4 test later :)

Try 5-4-4 instead, I've found going from CL5 to CL4 made very little difference to the bandwidth at same frequency, the 'RAS# to CAS#' setting gives the highest bandwidth boost, certainly that's the case for nVidia 680i/650i boards.

I hope not because the failure rate for D9 Micron based modules running at =/>2.2v is pretty high (with or without active cooling) going be the reports from various threads all over the net... :D
I don't think they are Micron chips, higher clocks are one thing, reliability another.
I'd recommend you tie a 80mm fan directly on top of memory modules just to be on the safe side, especially if the system is running 24/7 in the summer heat.
I've read all kinds off things about the IC's on these modules. anything from Promos, Elpida to Powerchip and SEC(Samsung). the very first NQ's had some chance on D9, but I'm convinced you wont find those anymore.Quote:

I dont think that they are Powerchip(PSC) ICs on these Sticks,
I got a 2GB kit of OCZ Special Ops Edition with PSC, they dont even
run 400 CL4 or 500 CL5...

probably not, but normally I run my system @ stock clockrates.
This settings are only for testing, my RAM runs usually 800 CL5
with all 4 sticks (2*1024MB OCZ and 2*1024MB G.Skill)
its not a dumb question and yes you will most likely be ok.
I would put a 120mm fan over them, just in case ;)

samsung doenst react at all on voltage. PSC is at its best on +-2.1V
and Elpida scales on voltage if IIRC. so my guess is still Elpida :)
geforcerocker if your up for it, remove the spreader and give us the answer. that is if your willing to lose your warranty and have a shot at killing your ram. I know I wont remove the spreaders on my sticks :)

Elpida seems to really hate volts, low tRAS and custom timings. but you seem convinced it aint Elpida, what is it according to you?
I think it should not be Powerchips because my OCZ have them
and they do not clock that good or do that thight timings. Should not be
Elpida because they should not scale with voltage that good, my G.Skill
scale perfect till 550Mhz at 2,3V :clap: but not more even at 2,50V :shocked:

Last night I ordered a pair of these GSkill 2GBNQ's from Newegg for $81 delivered to the door. :)
Hoping they will work and overclock fine with my Corsair XMS DDR-800 (2x512mb sticks), 3 gigs would be sweet but 2 gigs will still be an improvement... I suppose we'll find out.
Not going to Vista just yet but playing STALKER made me realize I need more RAM... might reload BF2 and give it another shot now too. :D
Newegg is now selling the 2GBNQ's at $124.99 AND charging $4.99 for the shipping. Price jumped $48.99 in less than 2 weeks. I wonder why the sudden spike? Maybe somebody discovered they were putting D9's in them again? :lol2:
This is one of the few times in my life I ever bought RAM at it's lowest price point. :D
P.S. Works fine with my old Corsair sticks too. 3 gigs of RAM makes STALKER and a whole lot of other games much more enjoyable.
Jeah, I use Windows Vista (x64) and I would not have less than my 4 gigs now,
it was a big jump from 2. Vista uses 1,02GB now in idle/desktop,
just some chat programmes in background...

i'm totally happy with this ram and cheap mobo .. who'd a thought
running at 2.1V and hitting over 10000 :)
i had actually ran orthos all night but forgot to grab a screen before i turned it off, so i ran it for a quick 1/2 hour .. can run longer if requested
