I've been wanting to join the XS hwbot team, this just forced me too
I'll be entering my rig (below), my laptop, my friends rig (amd rig with x1900xtx) and his laptop too :toast:
Hopefully I'll rack up some nice points for the team

I'm in the process of running every piece of hardware I own.....
Just outta curiosity what kind of rigs do you need up and running 24/7 to get 50points? It doesn't look like it is easy for the avg joe...
it isn't. thats the whole point (imo)Quote:

Yup....rich get richer...Quote:

I'll see if I can run it on an older rig (might not be able to, we'll see), but even if I got 1st in everything, that's only 28 points....
Edit: I'm gonna send people requests to run apps though...I'll get friends to run Spi and such...maybe if they have some obscure processor (P2 :p:) that's another 2 points.
Edit: @RB...what place do you have to be in to get points for a hardware score? I'm at 29th for my 7900GT, 0 points....
Update: So far I'm at 0 points for my submitted benchmarks
And I'm pretty sure my CPU has a low FSB wall....350FSB can boot to windows at 1.35ishV, 360 needs 1.45, can't even post at 370 at 1.55V...
You could ask ( in a better manner than your previous post though ) for a minimum entrance points reduction.Quote:

Edit:
By the way, not every high-end pc owner is rich...I know a lot of people holding back their needs, and filling up their bank account cent after cent for months in order to get their new rig.
Yeah exactly, I have been noticing contests like this on other forums that reward people for having the best PC or in this case PCs... WTF!Quote:

Please read back to RB's post, it is not hard to get points, it takes effort and I stated that at the start.
A week or so ago, I had 53 points w/o a highend system.....it's since been whittled to ~40 as more people post better scores. It took effort, uploading all the scores I could find and pushing my hardware harder than I wanted to on a 24/7 install...but I did it.
Have faith and have fun.....it's good to see what kind of benchmarks you can muster, eh? ;)
Think I will give it a try. My SuperPI did not get any points. Time to try something else.
the only reason i am even throwing a fit is cause its a contest. if i saw a thread/post that asked me to do it just for the sake of doing it and getting XS more points i wouldn't even care and would have done it.
Couple Questions..
Can we submit old bench photos from previous builds of our rigs (ie different hardware)
Do you need to get a certain score in order to get points? (like hit under XX seconds on super pi)?
And for the contest, once we break 50 points, do we need to hold those points until the 14th?
If you want to help XS get more points anyway that would be cool. I figured keep the bar low and allow all with a working PC to participate and possibly win.
50 points isn't exactly low. i highly doubt that i will reach even 20 points
Yes, you would need some buffer points to maintain 50 points on 2/14/2007
Yes, you may submit scores you posted here.

20 points are too easy :D
and what is your rig.Quote:

I had it at 3.1 for 24/7 use (lower than stock voltage), but to get any higher seems unreachable at any voltage...and looking at scores so far that's really holding me back...
Edit: I don't get pifast...how many digits are you supposed to compute?
Edit: Ya, 345FSB @ 1.3125V, 350-360 needs 1.4(high)-1.5(low), can't break anything but there....ass...

~60 pts on hwbot with just the rig :)
Not really the most expensive rig ;)
It doesn't take amazing hardware to get points in HWBot, I already ~9 points from one rig and I haven't even begin benching my sig rig yet. While 50 points may seem like a lot, this is a contest and this is also XtremeSystems. Look at the prize, 2 lots of 4 gigs of OCZ ram, that is atleast $800 worth of prizes to be split amonst 2 individuals. While it is true that not every rig will be able to net you 50 points, searching for 1-2 other rigs to help bolster your scores will greatly improve your odds. At first I myself thought that 50 points was a lot to ask for however I had never benched for HWBot before, now after doing some research 50 points seems to be very do-able, hell even 60-70 might be possible. Like everyone has said before, this is a contest at XS and it is going to require some effort so don't expect it to be a "no purchase necessary" drawing, you put in a bit and you'll bring out a lot. Now it is time for me to shutup and stop encouraging you guys and get back to insulating my mobo :p:

So are the points handed out like in groups, like if you have a P3 that is way overclocked faster than most other P3's you can get some points for that while at the same time I can't really get points for a barely above stock opty 165?
If so, maybe I should do some old school overclocking on a couple of my folding rigs... make them go faster than most other systems of their kind :D In the end might even help out their folding speed some :)
I broke out the old 540J and 560J that I had up for sale and benched 4511 with the 540J and 4503 with the 560J on air with the windows open last night while it was snowing... All I have to say is BRRRRRR! Its all about how far your willing to push it.... I'm waiting for my sig to change to reflect the points total so far... 17.1 Points not too shabby for starting a couple days ago..
oh i pushed it a little.Quote:

fine - i am getting prepped now.. :)
its too bad this wasnt a day earlier, i could have taken some records on my AMD system too - hopefully just one system will be enough for 50 pts...
