vsync off is not an option , it gives me tearing :slapass:
well then you're stuck at 60
...so...r there any games with lil vista logos on them as yet?
the game i seem addicted to (medieval2) works with vista64 with latest nvidia vista64 and wdm drivers apparently.
zerotol, what vysnc does is match the framerate to the monitor's refresh rate. All you can do is either get a new monitor with a higher refresh rate at the resolution you want or deal with it... sorry mate.....
yes i know that , my monitor does 100hz@1600*1200.It is the same bug that is fixed in windows xp by using refreshlock! This however does not work in vista and your stuck with 60 hz all the time in opengl unless u turn vsync off.
why not turn down your monitor refresh rate to 60hz?
Geez, that's too bad. At least with all the newer games for XP, the game dev's write into the game to recognize all refresh rates offered by the vid card driver. I haven't used a force refresh rate program for a few years because of this.Quote:

Wow - works fine - more consistent performance in busy areas
Immortal throne - runs fine - didn't like the game though ultimately
There's more but I'm off to work :)
Well with my new system build (E6600) i've played many of the games listed in this thread and i have had no issues with any of them. Pretty much every game i've tried also gives me better FPS while running Vista 32 than when running XP Pro.
I've gotten to like Vista 32 Premium so much I've delted my XP partition and am only running Vista now. Contrary to what some people here say, i think it's a great OS and i have yet to find any serious bugs.

There are some programs that showed deeply disappointing performance. Unreal Tournament 2004 and the professional graphics benchmarking suite SPECviewperf 9.03 suffered heavily from the lack of support for the OpenGL graphics library under Windows Vista. This is something we expected, and we clearly advise against replacing Windows XP with Windows Vista if you need to run professional graphics applications.
The same article finishes on a positive note for Vista (32bit):Quote:
We are disappointed that CPU-intensive applications such as video transcoding with XviD (DVD to XviD MPEG4) or the MainConcept H.264 Encoder performed 18% to nearly 24% slower in our standard benchmark scenarios. Both benchmarks finished much quicker under Windows XP.

Although application performance has had this drawback, the new Windows Vista performance features SuperFetch and ReadyDrive help to make Vista feel faster and smoother than Windows XP. Our next article will tell you how they work.
