Is this mod available for Asus P5B (Dlx)?
The pictures Big_Sam posted on page 2 show the mod on a P5B deluxe.
Shamano talked about GTL awhile back.

The board is working great.Quote:

Actually I re-reworked the Commando today :D
The wires are much shorter this time to prevent the cirquit catch any additional noise from the regulators.

Great run down of the day Fugger, sounds like you had a really great time.
I've read the article by Kris and there are some really advanced reverse engineering going on here from you guys. Looking forward to some board specific results :)
Sorry for all of my "noobish" Qs, but I just have to be sure I'm doing it right. I have now bought 1kohm variable resistors. But I don't understand where I should "start". By looking at this picture here, it looks like I shall connect it to three (3) points at the mobo (vGTLref, VTT and ground). Then I'll always have 1kohm between VTT and ground. But if I set 1kohm between vGTLref and VTT, I get 0 ohm between vGTLref and ground. Is that correct? What vGTLref do I get with this config?
Then, when I'm starting to lower the resistans between vGTLref and VTT, I get higher resistans between ground and vGTLref, and higher vGTLref voltage?
Set the vr to ~ middle for starters.Quote:

And, The Stilt, have you got any results with your card yet?
Glad Intel is asking the community for suggestions and ideas.
Intel++
Interesting stuff,
I don't suppose someone could worry Intel about an express BIOS update .exe that actually works under a x64 OS? That is such a nice worry free application. I love it and can't use it with Win XP Professional x 64 or Vista Ultimate x64.
damn, wish i coulda went.
Big Sam what GTLref voltages are you running on your P5B Deluxe?
Very cool for Intel to be seeking the "extreme" users' opinions. I just wish they could somehow get SLI compatibility on an Intel chip!
wow, hopefully they will listen to your suggestions
Sounds good, just wish intel knew how to make flat IHS'
Im sure Intel know how to make a flat IHS but im also sure they dont make them =)
I guess getting them perfect flat will cost them a bit more per IHS, and maybe that cost is to much just to consider a few overclockers that are a bit extreme with temperature.
Who knows maybe we see extreme overclockers edition with no warranty and superflat IHS and really good price at stores =)
AMD does a much better IHS job with the A64 series.....hope this changes for Intel :(
well, hey, at least lga chips are easier to lap, without pins and all.
Wow that trip sounded awesome! This fsb mod sounds very interesting and it only works for Kentsfields correct?
EDIT: Nevermind I figured it out
Yeah i lapped my 8400 and my ultra120extreme lowered temps by 4degrees still waiting for the AS5 burn in... maybe get another degree or 2 less
