... it was DDR2-1230 5-4-4-4.0 @ 2.7v, not DDR2-1130 --> linky. I remember he also had 8500 kit @ DDR2-1240, 2.7v a while ago, on AM2... Only Sandra screenies, but hey, just correcting you...

that said where can i get a good pair of regular HZ ? do you know if mem config will pick you a good pair if you ask for a specific serial number etc ?

I fat fingered it, changed my number. Thanks. :D However, the kits were the 8000, 2x512MB, and not the 6400, 2x1GB kits being shown here. ;)

I know the test results you posted are true (did you want to answer who actually did the testing and why memset shots are not included) but it would be nice to list out the test setup specifications and exactly how 1300 was reached with modules that will not be available widely in retail. Otherwise, a lot of people will assume the retail kits will do 1300 out of the box. They will not be pissed at you, but instead at G.Skill and that is not fair. ;) Whether or not you are advertising is up for debate, but seeing how the post was arranged and used "special edition" modules I would say it was at least on the level of a press release. :D

3. My information about RD600 is directly from DFI so I know what the truth is at this time. The latest BIOS I am using on the board is R6TDC08 with a build date of 12/07/06. :fact:

1: that p5b-d is vdimm moded, otherwise it wouldnt hit 1300, but i dont think i have to metion that and also nobody asked. It's like i overlock a E6600 to 4.8G and other ppl would think it is air cooled? We are not primary school boys right?

2:in the other thread, i gave all the pics of these G.skill rams, one of them clealy shows that the waranty volt is 2.3.

3:I said something about RD600 because in another thread is said i was going to test the rams on RD600 which is retail version, that's why i said something about RD600. Also DFI did say they can't ship the pre-ordered retail mobos last week due to bios issues. Maybe the bios they have now is not good enough for retail according to their standard. My information is different from yours doesnt mean it's FAKE.

Hey bingo, i appreciate what you are doing here... you contribute tons and im a big fan of all of your articles.

but i feel like its pretty clear that this is special edition stuff, its also pretty clear that he put 2.9v into the memory to get this performance.

If people can't read that, then it's thier fault, not G.Skill's. I find it hard to believe that people would purchase PC-6400 and expect greater then 9600 speeds out of it. But they CAN expect this to be an above average 6400 set.

I for one just enjoy seeing the results. :) And if there were a time where i wanted to break a record, i know where to look to find memory that performs well under extreme conditions. Thats what makes this XS.

I was told the black PCB of 6400hz are Crucial Ballistix.
I opened up my friend's(purchased in Korea) to make sure and they were indeed covered in black by G.skill.
I am about 99% sure these are the Ballistix in disguise;)

G.Skill makes thier own modules, many manufacturers use thier own color PCB's. So having a black set of ballistics with GMH and a black set of HZ with GMH is just coincedence. I'm sure you can find black mushkin and black ocz of GMH as well.

That's what I thought as well. It is something obvious at first but my friend in Korea related to G.skill insists on telling me that the black PCB version is actually Ballistix. If you look closely inside the ram, there's a spot marked in black which says Crucial. I believe him since he has the samples and the retail version of both.

hmm ok, fair enough...

which ballistix set does this relate too? surley we cant expect this performance out of the 6400?

That is correct. Some of them even show it in their SPD. :)

Doesn't matter much, though. They still perform great and Crucial's SPD isn't the worst out there.

I picked up a pair of HZs last week and noticed a difference in spd settings compared to a pair I got back in February. Trc looks pretty high for the new sticks. These new sticks have the black pcb and new style heatspreader.

Anyone else who recently purchased these sticks have the same spd settings in the first screenshot?

Hey Scottk,

My recently purchased HZ's have the new style heatspreaders, though i have a lower TRC then you. Mine seems to be sitting between OP's and yours.

My TRC is at 24.

but i noticed that when i leave TRC as AUTO in bios, it gives it a TRC of 18. This is on my P5N32-E btw..

Thanks for the reply spookz. CPU-Z does report my "actual" Trc as 18 on my BX2, even if the SPD shows 36, and the BX2 doesn't have allow setting of Trc.
