today God selled my 7900GTX !!
Until now I have Trident 9750 4MB --> Nvidia Vanta --> Nvidia TNT2 --> Geforce4 MX 440 --> GeForce 5200 --> GeForce 5900XT --> GeForce 6800 Ultra --> geForce 7800GTX --> GeForce 7900GTX
But after long years I reach to pain pick! I will never buy High-End!! because if you buy one you are on top only for 5 Month but something like 6600GT OC always is gamers choice and it could become you happy with games!

7900gtx is fine for now and will be fine until the r600 release. im waiting for the r600 :)

Fair enough...8800 is a big enough evolution to warrant an upgrade though...especially for those that DO regularly upgrade...I'm not one of those people either...more of a mainstream guy...but for those that do want to go 8800 for any budget, they should def go ahead.

I disagree for the same reason that many people here have said. While the 8800GTX is clearly the most superior GPU out there, right now, it does not surprise me that many people are waiting on the ATI counterpart or the later releases of the G80 series (8900, 8800GTO, or what have you).

Consider that DX10 (which in my opinion is the main advantage of the 8800 right now) is still months off and by the time it comes out, the R600 (which as I understand is should come out along side of Vista and DX10, or close to it) should be released, perhaps the next line of G80s will also be on their way... that considered, unless you update A LOT, and by a lot, I mean like every two months, the 8800GTX or GTS doesn't seem like a very worthy buy. At least until it can be used to its full potential with DX10, and by that time it should be cheaper.

On an aside, I just saw GTSs on NewEgg for $500, which greatly disappoints me because it's more than I had thought. I'll probably wait on the R600 or the later G80 cards to satisfy my DX10 needs, for now, I think my setup is fine.

Your point is valid...but i began to differentiate between what is ideal and what the consumers do very long ago.

Those that have the $$ to spend and have made the decision to spend it knowing full well the r600 is around the corner...my ongoing struggle for people to recognize the 8800gts is with them...and i don't blame them...there are 1000s of demographics...can't clump them all into one.

Mainstream buyers like you and me will wait for 8600 and RV6xx to go dx10 seeing as we value price/performance more than having the latest thing the day it launches and thats fine too...two different demographics :)

If you're thinking of getting the G80s, better wait for the R600 rolling out so you know what's ATI got up their sleeve. From what I think it should be faster than 8800GTX, well it should be or the cards won't sell much :p:

DX10 support is just a bonus now, you won't need it till Vista or DX10 games come out sometimes next year. By that time the hardware would mature and the prices have gone down to acceptable level. I'm waiting for a card like 512MB DDR4 8600GT, that'd be sweet :toast:

boy is it tempting to go 8800gtx sli and get 30" LCD for awesome gaming but I don't want to spend that much. R600 will come out and be king and then 8900gx2 quad sli will take the crown back ;)

tell me about it. I'm hitting HP's site every 5 minutes waffling about the LP3065 monitor... I was hoping to hold out for the Samsung 305T but it looks like samsung just doesn't want to sell them, no news at all and HP's are here w/ the 92% ntsc colour gamut.

Newegg has the eVGA 8800GTX for 660 USD = approx. 746 CAD

Directcanada has eVGA 8800GTX for 698 CAD = approx. 618 USD
