holy.... this core is huge!
the gts looks more sexy! smaller, only one pcie-power-connector

The IHS still leaves me wondering whether its a single die with 384 bit memory interface or main die(256) and daughter die(128) configuration.
Also look at the dual sli bridges on the gtx - is that for quad sli or faster single bi directional sli connection?
how big of a powersupply will i need?
will 650watts be good?
I'm very interested in that also, I see the new ATI cards are coming out with 2 interconnection points also, I believe this is for their Physics set up or to allow Quad SLi/XFire.Quote:

no, thats not correct at all.Quote:

its WHERE the amps are that count, and you could say the psu has max output wattage of 480w on the 12v, or you could say it has max output amperage of 24amps on the 12v rail. same damn thing.

how do they find wattage of a psu rail? V*A=W
how do you find amps from watts? W/V=A
how do you find volts from watts? W/A=V
its very basic stuff.
20 amps on the 12v rail gives you 240watts on the 12v rail.
how do they find max watts? add that up for all the rails.
if your still confused, i can draw you a diagram and use words smaller than 4 letters.
to say that watts dont matter is foolish.
8800 GTX ---------450 Watts & 30A +12v.
8800 GTS ---------400 Watts & 26A +12v.

I wonder how loud that fan is. It looks like it might be a whiner. I sure hope not becuase buying a 700$ card to buy a new waterblock or new fan is not something that makes me happy. When it comes out the quesiton for me becomes what is better 2x X1950 XTX / 2x 7900 GTX or one G80. Hopefully once G80 refresh is done power and heat will go down and we will be left with a great competing card for the R600. Otherwise maybe R600 kills it and we get good price on G80 SLI come February :).

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. thats why you were disagreeing with me over energy formulas? because the box said so?Quote:

that says you need a 450W psu with 28amps on the 12v rail.
thats 336watts on the 12v rail, with 114watts to be distrubuted to the other rails(mainly 3.3v and 5v)

Oh and btw, the specified wattage of psu means nothing. At what reference temperature? Is it peak or constant load? Can it sustain specified wattage with rail crossloading? Most of it's marketing BS.
Very interesting pics, now show us some specs! :D
Me like the ASUS ones, though that's probably because I like GRAW :p:
#Everybody complaining about size.... Give them a chance, it's completely new tech they're sticking together here, the next gen will look a lot better, maybe even just a revision... :)
IMHO, the dual-sli-bridge is because the amount of data needing transfer is INSANE between the two cards... It simply couldn't be done with a single bridge :)
Best Regards :toast:
Not much of a card from the next generation (no GDDR4) - something between Mainstream & High-End, same as Gf 7800 GTX from the Gf 7xxx Generation, I want to see the "Big Guns" - the 300W hungry cards whit GDDR4 - GF 8900 GTX, who knows maybe will see even a 8950 GX2 :woot:
QFT, $400 high end card, that'll be the day :stick:Quote:
