If you havent done so, i HIGHLY recommend lapping your E6600. My 6400 was flatter than my 6600! It makes a big different. I stopped at 1500 grit. I started with 400 grit. These IHS's are NOT flat whatsoever.

Im going to pick up a Asus P5B against my will and toss this E6600 in it. These 975s just plain suck for high clocking. I bet i get to 4ghz on water with a 965 chipset.

No. I returned that BadAxe/6400 combo. I got it from Frys to kind of check it out. You have 15 days to return it, no questions asked. So that is what I did. The BadAxe I had had the newer and inferior clock generator/PLL. for some reason Intel switched from ICS to , I think, IDT. Whatever. The one I had was limited in its overclock due to that.

I'm running on a Gigabyte DS3 ( P965 ).

For my other Conroe, I have a P5B Deluxe, inbound. It is scheduled, as well as my Patriot sticks, for delivery on Tuesday.


That bites about the 370... Have you read some most of the major threads about that Asus you have now. I heard it can be hit or miss. But there may be a fix in one of those threads.

Scott, yea, i have read.. Im was the " early " adopter for this so called, best board EVA, Da Asus from the Intel fanbois. Ive been saying for years that Asus sucks, big ass ballsacks.

Im going to try the P5B totally against my will, just so i can get my 3.8 to 4.0 out of this 6600.. Im too lazy to pull this board out right now to do the mods. I have a lot of h20 cooling in the V2000 right now.

It's all just to damn new, we have to accept that there are no GOOD motherboards for Conroe now. Even if one emerges that is as stable and potent as let's say the Ultra-D, first revisions will be picky about a lot of things.

You just have to try your luck I guess (or run stock lol :D )
