BTW, the AIW cards have been discontinued... If you take a look on newegg, there's only 1, and it's $215.

i was wondering how i had missed the X1900AIW all these weeks if it's faster than a 7900GT and 150$, good thing it's not.

7900GT remains a solid choice in my mind, prices as low as 240$, and with a 2 minute ink mod you get to 650 core, which for me was stable on the stock cooler, load temp of 63c was perfectly acceptable.

At 300$, the 7950GT doesn't seem overly competetive, but it's just a quick rehash card that's filling the gap between 7900gt and gtx, no biggie.

I was thinking of picking up an X1900XT 512, but now i hear talk of this X1950XT. Are they making 512MB versions too? And at what price point if so?

That 7950GT looks like a nice little alternative....but why the hell dont they come up with some better single slot coolers (i mean in terms of looks). It looks so puny and small....geez.

ZZF had them @ 150$ a week or two ago, but that was a special and not a long time price.

Somewhere else had them for 196$ in the past weeks, but that was a special and not a long time price...

There are people with E6400s clocked @ same speed as my Yonah, and they have 7900GTXes, and they dont do what I did in that one single run...

Yes, they were available in the past weeks for 150$, and yes they can be faster than a 7900GT. (and GTX!)

I do not think a untweaked 12k on single core AMD is bad. And yes 149$.

I remember when it was on special for $149 at ZZF, it lasted a whole 10 minutes LOL.

Also, a sale doesn't change the fact that it's a discontinued card, and the cheapest it's available for right now is $215.

X1900 XT 256 is still greater then the 7900 GT but should be about even to the 7950 GT.

X1900 XT 512 has a MSRP of 349US now, so the 7950 GT if it is mildy worst just needs to fall a little, to normalize the price.

X1950 XT 256 Is likely going to be the replacement for the X1900 XTX. When it arrives is unknown.

X1900 XT 256 we will have to see if it is as fast as the 7950 GT.

I think the Geforce 7900 GS should be pretty even to the X1950 Pro.

im highly considering buying a 7950GT if the price is very right(as in 300 MAX or lower ;) ) while also upgrading to a dual core opteron, WHICH i am in the market for :)

It will replace both of them...unless you think the x1950xtx replaced the x1900xtx, which I guess is technically true. Considering the prices they've both been at though (1900xt - ~300 and xtx - ~330) it will replace them both. It'll prolly be MSRP priced at $349, but you, I, and the world + dog knows that means a little bit more than $300 in reality, the price point of both DDR3 512mb cards. Doesn't mean the x1900's still won't still be around though...and cheap as hell. :D

I say it is an X1900 XTX replacement as it will likely be equal or beat it in performance and be cheaper but we shall see.

IMO 580+ is the same R580 with fixed bugs and GDDR4.

So I think
X1950XT will replace X1900XT
and
X1950XTX will replace X1900XTX

they have 7900GS's in Dells atm don't they?

It is a very simple problem of supply and demand. Up untill I posted my results with the AIW, everyone assumed it was useless, so the price was going down.

Low and behold, I post results that are promising, and the price goes up, as retailers can sell them....

It WAS in the sub 200$ segment, and you had the chance to pick one up... When the X1950 is released, do you honestly think the price of the AIWs will go up? :toast:

The real thing here is yes, The AIW is 209$ Shipped @ ZZF now, and it is nearly just as fast as a full fledged X1900XT/XTX, yet alone some disabled version of the 7900GT.


You can take your disabled 7900GT, it will not hold a candle to a Full piped X1900.
