same problem here with my p5w and neohe, exactly same problem ...
I got the system to boot stable and all BUT ... if I plug in the front USB ports into the mobo header ... the system gets stuck on the Widnows XP boot screen ... just sits there. the moment I disconnect them ... all works ok ...
I just sold my NEOHE and getting a Silverstone ST60F

after installing the ST60F, all is perfectly FINE !!!!
Hallelujah!! I've been searching the web for 2 weeks now trying to find a fix for the exact problem shown here, and I finally found the cause and the answer! Many thanks to all who worked on this thread!
My experience: P5W DH Deluxe board, E6300 CPU, Coolermaster Extreme Power 600W PSU. After finally finding this thread, I hooked up an old Pentium 4 PSU (20-pin power connector instead of 24-pin) and the machine booted up fine, all problems (and 32 bogus Firewire controllers) had disappeared. I then got ahold of a second P5W DH board, and the results were the same, Coolermaster major problems, old PSU fine.
I called Coolermaster, they said that they were aware of the problem. It seems that the mobo sends a signal back to the PSU that causes it go wonky. They are coming out with an adapter plug to go inline between the PSU power pigtail and the Asus mobo connector that they say will stop the problem. They are sending me one when available (in a few weeks) so I'll post back then as to whether or not it works. In the mean time I'm going shopping for a new PSU to get this system up and running.
Again, many thanks to those who persevered and finally found the answer to this hair-pulling problem.

man!!here I am reading through this thread looking at the just opened box of my Neo HE PSU thinking OMFGWTF......until I got to this post......My serial no# starts w/ S060. Man, i'm having the same exactly problem, and let's add another PSU with issues on the P5W DH Deluxe, mine is a Seventeam 500-ZNF. I've sent an email asking if they know something about this issue, but yet didn't receive an anwser, well, the truth is, it is really a problem of the PSU, i tried to boot up the WINXP with another PSU, and, bingo, working 100%, no more 30 (dont even know how much it were...) texas something IEEE 1934... everything working normal... and now, i'm going to buy another PSU, i was thinking about one of these two: Thermaltake W0057-01RU or W0057.
Are these two a good PSU? (Already sent an email to thermaltake asking them about any problem with the ASUS P5W DH Deluxe)
If anyone knows something, please, post here.

ok i too have been plagued by this psu problem! at first i thought it might have been that my p5w dh's bios were old and needed updating, but after this thread i think i've found the culprit!
i am thinking that it would be a good idea to stay away from an antec psu after reading this thread. i will rma my neo430 in favour of anything else since it looks like some people said they still had problems, even with the newer serial number version of this psu (mine is the S0511 number).
bigdisk says the enermax liberty 500W fixed him up, so maybe i'll go with that one. any ideas? i'm using my computer for music, and use an external firewire audio interface, so i need to have the firewire ports functioning properly!
My Firewire ports are recognized perfectly, but I haven't tested them (no firewire devices, sorry!).

bought a ocz powerstream 520 w
works fine now,
well at least it's not buggin too hard, but my firewire ports aren't working, despite everything looking fine in the devices panel...
i'll have to give asus a call tomorrow and see what the deal is.
