I still dont understand this about this board perhaps someone can clear it up, it has a 4 pin peripherial JPWR and says it is used to provide power to the pciex16 graphics card. Why exactly do you need this connection since most high end cards have their own power connector? Manual says its also a MUST to provide stability of the board.
Did you email MSI tech support about this issue? Good question though!Quote:

I don't think that 4 pin is essential for the board to work.
His post says "4 pin peripherial JPWR". That would be the Molex.
I'm puting everything together and a few notes so far. I like the clear cmos button, no more pins;) Also the manual says you MUST connect all 3 power connections. I will be using a IDE hard drive so I hope that does not cause any issues. This board has bios 710, I was told 711 is the best, we will see. My next post should be on the new rig.

As for connecting all 3 power connections as a must let us know if it still lets you run as normal without plugging it in(which it should do).
I should have 1 arriving tomorrow, so hopefully i`ll be right behind ya rodman :)
common rodman its almost been an hour:D
please put some pics up, that would be great:cool:
I would like to see this boards results, just about had enough with this ds3.Quote:

Yes, the video cards have their own pci-e power connectors, but I look at it his way, if the board manufacturers are putting them on their boards, they must be there for a reason. It doesn't hurt anything to plug a molex connector into it.Quote:

bios 710 huh, cool I thought it came with 6 for some reason, but bios 711 is out? Where did you find that cuz the only one I see on Msi.com.tw is 7.0 and it says thats the "new" one under the update description.
What happened to rodman?
im totally with you there(well cept being sick of ds3, havent played with it yet) but i love msi and believe this will be a great boardQuote:

I really need to see how this board does soon as i have everything else and my E6600 is getting lonely :P.
Even video cards that have their own molex still pull juice from the PCI-E slot. Usually it doesnt warrant that extra on-mobo molex. Of course there are still cards that pull all their power through the PCI-E slot. Its just an ATX standard that the mobo has to be able to provide a certain amount of power through the PCI-E slot. Whether or not it is used on average is completely separate. Sticking the molex there allows less traces from the mobo power connector all the way to the PCI-E slot. Less traces = more room = more features for other crap :)Quote:

I've worked with these guys in the past for software packages for the university I work for. They just started this online hardware store so they don't have any feedback. The sales rep Roger is really cool and tracked down which revision they carry of the MSI board. Should be here Friday.
MSI is a good company on boards. i've had 2 of their boards and they are both still running strong. the boards i have are AMD but i think they are the same on both sides in terms of quality and performance. both overclocked really well, took my 2500+ barton to 2.3ghz and my 3000+ venice to 2.7ghz all with ease. i have no doubt MSI is just as good on the Intel front.Quote:

Why do I have a feeling I won't be receiving my order from Ewiz this week:(
