too tired to dive into the vMCH mod tonight, will post tomorrow. :)
Thanks FCG, after i took the mosfet HS off i realised it was there for a reason. I just left it there.
pics don't work for me. However, good writeup. will follow these procedures upon arrival of a new board - my other one doesn't work.
Excellent, now lets get stuck into the bios and see how to sort the "strap" thingo :)
I got my P5W today and followed this thread's fine instructions for replacing the TIM on both bridges. However, my motherboard temps are over 50 degrees! It doesn't change more than a single degree, idle or full load. The 805 is 33 idle, 43 full load, which I imagine is nice for stock on air, right?
However, the mobo temps are alarming.... What could it be, what should I do?
I wouldn't dare use AS5 on something like that. It's Ceramique for me, all the way. After I put the Ceramique on and put the heatsinks back on for a minute, I took them back off, just to check the contact, an all the spots on the heatsink had indents for the Vregs.
thats exactly what i was thinking...Quote:

I did same thing to NB for my P5W DH before I instaled it.
And my NB is pretty hot and SysFan tells me that Temp 3 is 126C !!
So what is wrong?
I think that SpeedFan program is not good.
Asus Probe tells that mobo temps are 47-53C. Something is badly wrong.
I even instaled 40x40mm fan on NB heatsink.
Hi,
You must mention that "Commercial isopropanol should not be ingested. If you need a drink, go buy a beer ya cheap bastage." Also, working under the influence is probably not a good idea !:D
Nice guide, maybe you could add a little more material for Intel N00bs (ex-AMD folks) regarding basics like straps and memory performance parameters.
Regards,
S-N
How do you keep from ruining the sticky pads when you take off the NB assembly to clean the NB? Don't the mosfet pads start to loose their adherence when you replace it?Quote:

I just got my P5WDH and I noticed that my bios chip has a sticker with 0502 on it, hopefully that means I have the 0502 bios and won't have to do the celeron or 805d bios flash dance to get my E6600 to work. Has anyone else had a board with a 0502 sticker and where they good to go for conroe? Thanks for any responses, still don't have my E6600 just would like to know whether I should send for a new bios chip.
I could tell you what sticker mine has one it, but it wouldn't matter as I flashed it to the one FCG posted last night.
for some reason I can't see ram timings ? any ideas ?
Maybe a bios issue again ?
Pictures aren't working. If you want me to host them I can on my site's server. 100mbit.
Any help on that motherboard/PWM temperature issue??
Is there any evidence that re-seating the chipset HS's helps the temps??
i read a lot of posts where chipset temps are getting very high, but this seems to be from people that have done the mod??? Am i miss informed or is the mod actually helping?
Also... as CPU temps seem to be sky high i think it is right to question the MB temp monitoring system wholesale... including the chipset temps.
p5w dh reports the correct cpu temps usuallyQuote:

So what is the consensus from people who have done this mod as to the temps before and after??
picceys down... at least for me...
I can also help if needed. have webspace with no limits available. PM me or grab me on MSN if you need me.Quote:
