Gigabyte 965P board now at newegg!

sierra any idea if it has the 1333 strap option or the ability to set the memory at 333/1333 ?

theres alot of new info going around that setting the 1333 strap yields higher FSB but of course the relaxed timings slow it down a tad. so even on a cheaper board if it has the 1333 option its still possible to increase the clocks.

Sierra keep us posted on that DS3.
if it can go higher than that i may pick on up.
im not sure what chip he's using but if he keeps the multi high its not a bad board.
i fear the severe lack of power control on the board. i mean it is only what 3 phase ? may hurt its clocking but only time will tell.

What if I'd only want to hit a easy 333.4MHz X 9 and get 3GHz? Or maybe 350 at the most?

Shamino at VR-Zone did tests with the DQ6 board which may share some of the same issues with the DS3. These were his findings:

Performance as you can see is pretty good. But there are a few flaws....

First of all is the phantom VDIMM voltage settings. The board will not boot up when you select above 2.35v on the memory voltage. It is not that the board will not support above 2.35v, just something wrong with the BIOS setting. So I had to voltage modify the memory voltage to raise it above 2.35v and not rely on the BIOS settings. It can be done by pencil mods and you can check it out here.

Then other problem I faced was that it did not work properly with my Conroe X6800 ES. There was no way for me to change the FSB with this CPU so I can select any FSB higher or lower but it will still boot up and remain at 266MHz default FSB. There was also no multiplier higher than 11x for me to select.

These are the 2 main problems with the board I faced so far."
