i don't see the point in spending so much money on a conroe system when i can play any game on the market at full settings with my opty machine. unless you're going to pure benchmarks.... but i think i'll wait for the next generation.

I agree, but since two of my amd platforms have been shelved for some time, I fugured selling those to fund a conroe is a good idea. I only paid $50 more for the E6600 than Intel's msrp. I was even shipped free and will receive in two days. That's about $18 value. The ram was a bit pricey, but I wanted 2 gigs. I went with the best price 975 board thats know to hit over 400 FSB. It was $185. I've spent less on this than I did building the gamestation its gonna replace.:D

well you better give that opty165 a good home or I'll call pc services on you for selling them to some granny that will use them for googling for dentures. :P

Not selling the 165. I only paid $295 shipped overnight for that chip and she's a gem. Theres only one person I'd sell it to & they know who they are. It will definitely hit 3ghz in Dual prime stable once the weather cools or I improve my cooling. Gonna put it back in my DFI Ultra-D and recomission the Mediastation.

Thinking about replacing my X2 w/ a 165 Opty. Pretty good price on Newegg.

Overall the opterons run cooler and oc better. Newegg sending out 0617 which are ocing monsters! But, still risky. I got mine and a few other from Newegg.

really depends, have you tried overclocking your 3800+ yet?

if you got the cash you might as well cus it never hurts to play with new hardware. i got stuck with one of the crap opty 165's takes 2.6v to hit 2.66

but yes, generally opterons do run cooler and overclock higher becuase of their higher quality silicon

Watercooled by EXOS watercooling....:D

CCB1E is cold bugged to hell, but you dont need phase with this beauty. :toast:

My CPU is CCBBE 0617..
Load Temps (S&M FPU 100% Test For 30 Mins) at 3150@1.4 Vcore is 41C via ITE SmartGuardian and 44C/46C CPU0/CPU1 Via CoreTemp Utility...

Room Temp 29-31C :D

Wondering why you dont get higer score in 3DMark 01 an Aquamark.

Looiking at your Signature and i saw...
1) You are running your VGA on Higher clocks... Mine was 700/850
2) Far better RAM timmings .... My RAM (GSKILL DDR500 HZ is :banana: )

Did go very easy when I removed mine:

Did get som higher clock and my temps went down and I could reduce the voltage.

I can't seem to get a good mount w/ my waterblock after removing the IHS on the Opteron. :(
