Hi everyone!
was wondering about the prices of those infinity series mobos for Conroe - any ideas how much they will cost?
Nice, the Inquirer has some numbers to backit up.

Whoa ... Even Itanium ? Nicey. Hmmm...anyone have a link to either Intel or AMD server/desktop roadmaps ?
I'll sticky a thread with them so that people can better understand the differences etc.
Nice find
Perkam
They forgot to mention the extreme performance hit that it takes when you go to a Quad SMP setup.

j/k , but maybe you could find something useful
Linky to benches showing this ?Quote:

Linpack FLOPs benchmark for matrix multiplication, still used (despite its near uselessness in real apps) to rank the world's TOP 500 supercomputers
first let us look at the Bensley platform intel is going to use for WoodCrest

if you will notice the bandwidth isn't going to scale that well.
Big multiway systems and Intel still don't go together which is a shame considering the power of their upcomming processors. I might be selling my AMD processor, mobo and RAM to get some intel action next year unless AMD really mange to pull something spectacular out of the bag with K8L. They'd still have to bring it forwards though.
That is kinda interesting

2-node Opteron 275 rig gets 35 Peak GFlops

Can anyone please explain to me how to calculate the FLOPS of a computer, I didnt get what the inq said... And whats more important, Peak FLOPS or Max FLOPS?
I wanna know what Fuggers 4ghz Conroe does FLOPS wise and also what my (pathetic) P4 does in comparison.
i would really apreciate it... :)
WoodCrest just got owned by the INQ :rofl:Quote:

24 peak GFlops is pretty impressive number
what i get a laugh at , is this just a tweak for conroe and woodcrest ??
Woodcrest will outperform all other CPUs on the market
In Linpack

A FEW DAYS AGO, a friend told me that the famous Linpack FLOPs benchmark for matrix multiplication, still used (despite its near uselessness in real apps) to rank the world's TOP 500 supercomputers, will run on the Conroe and Woodcrest far better than expected, due to the recent compiler and tuning advances.
some times i think that they get fed some stories and just print it with out checking
I think we should refer to this as the "woody"
Although the performance may give you a "woody" dude.. but the poor Scaling does nothing for me :rolleyes:Quote:

Put an 8 to 16 way intel against an 8 to 16 way AMD and see what occurs... The bandwidth is going to choke the intel system to the point of lights out, while the AMD will take little to no hit due to it's MUCH better interconnect method.
Intel cancelling CSI essentially killed it in the server market.
