that mod is for the board cutting off after pulling to much current and OVP kicks in.i was one of the first bunch of guys doing that.
the board is great now no problems at all .that i can see right now.it is just my new barton doesnt like high voltage.and it may be because of the extra L2 . I totally expect the bartons to be slower in clock speed because of the extra L2.the way it looks at this moment I think about 100 mhz lower overall speed is to expected over a similar tbred.my current xp2600 tbred will run 2834@2.1volt and i believe after a week or too i will see close to that speed with my barton xp2800.i have allready had my barton at 2808 mhz but i have lots of errors and since it wont take any voltage over 2.0 v at this moment i will have to just try to burn it in a little bit at a time.the extra L2 does make a differance in overclocking the chip.
i am just trying to let everyone know how mine is going.when i go out to buy something i like to here how it is doing from guys in here first sometimes and i really enjoy reading sucess stories everyone has.helps me decied sometimes yes or no when purchacing something. It is just i am at the point in time as i am able to purchace some of these things before others right now.and as i got help from others before when was unable to buy the best as soon as it came out i am trying to return the favor and help some other's out in here.

i just hope it helps some;)
We appreciate that bowman! :)
I have a 2500+
AXDA2500KV4D
AQUCA 0303 VPAW
93987472S0024
I hope 2800MHz with 2v (224*12.5 in dual ddr)
wc+vapochill and soon a prometeia (3.1GHz :D )
Just for everyone's information, I'm ordering a 2800+ Barton tomorrow. I'll of course post up my findings.
Thanks for the info. It all helps.:)
I'm still waiting for a good 2500+ stepping although i may just go guinnua pig and get one to test this sunday.
My 2500+ is clocked at 2620-2700MHz with 2-2.05vQuote:

It heats more than my 2400+ at 2610MHz and 2.15v!!!!!!
What cooling on that 2500+?Quote:

How far did you get on air (if you tried)?
What stepping did the 2500+ have?
I´m about to buy either a 2500+ Barton or a 2600+, but you don´t seem to be that satisfied with your Barton. How does it compare in benchmarks?
Thankfully,
Magnus
My 2800+ goes to about 2520 on air, but anything over 1.85 or 1.875 volts gives a bluescreen or crashes. On the exact same platform (8rda+, etc.) My 2800+ T-bred would take 1.92v on air just fine, so thie barton seems to want lower volatge even though the temps are only in the low to mid 30's. (lower than what the non-barton 2800 temps were at similar mhz)
All that said, the barton seems to make Windows a bit zippier due to the extra cache. But that may be my imagination or wishfull thinking.
It did improve PCMark cpu and memory scores as compared to the exact saame settings and speeds again of the non-barton 2800.

AQUCA 0304WPAW
by the way, 3DMark2003 doesn't run as easily as it did on the 2800+ (non-barton) I have discovered.
