this is actually quite interesting.
I think Nvidia is really pulling all thier best efforts together right now in anticipation of the R600.
get better hardware out, flood the low and mid range market with the first DX10 cards, have a new high end card in time for the R600.... and work on a complete driver update, that will help push the 8800 Ultra to the limits.
so far, this new driver is surprisingly good.
Eh? The drivers increase the CPU score too? Interestingly SM2.0 went up more than HDR/SM3.0
what difference does it make? i mean it would have been nice to have this performance from the start but it's not like you werent getting the fastest card on the market.
I had bought mine hoping for better than 2xX1950 in a single card, and was dissapointed. These increases would have brought that gap closer, and might have had me keep the cards I had, instead of getting rid of them ASAP.
It also speaks volumes about how rushed the product was...which means there may be far greater issues to be found still...like the B.O.M. problem...that should have NEVER happened. They did not even check final reatial cards...just shipped them out.
There seems to be some bug fixes too, I don't own a G80 but some of the others in that forum were very happy to have fog working correctly in the Source engine. So at the very least the drivers are good for that, and it shows signs that nvidias driver team are doing something right again. Lately they've been the slime under a rock that resides in a stream that flows through a field of sickly pigs.
Or something to that effect.
I didn't mention anything about the "missing MUL" which if i'm not mistaken is not an API...
ATI have done their fair share of driver cheats aswell but weren't there rumours of a so called "super driver/driver tweak" a few months back? The large jump in numbers (101.xx to 158.16) might signify that this is that driver/tweak. If it is then i'm underwhelmed.
Either way, faster cards for no loss in IQ is a big .

30% gain is not fake at all , its Reality! <------
I come confirm too it can high score than 101.02 after i try run 3d06 increase from 7239 to 7513 by 158.16
thank Marduk_25 ;)
now we need vista 64bit one
nice nvidia finally decided to update the winxp drivers =D not just vista
I tried to install and look what message I get:
ps I also tried from device manager and same thing happens. this is from the list of the 3 links. I chose the 2nd one. I'm going to try the original link and I am going to show GRAW2 fps using fraps with 97.94 compared with the 158.16 at same settings.
NEVERMIND I just tried the 1st link and was able to install.
Here you go....
10fps gain
btw this is at stock speeds both cpu and gpu
Does that game just look bad.... or is just about every texture there screwed?
Can you give settings in-game pls?
I like the speed bump these drivers offer!
I had 400 marks improve on 3dmark 2006.
But there are some more benefits... like 16xAA in R6Vegas...

I downloaded it, going to install. I'll be back with what I find soon.
Call me stupid, but I'm not seeing 8800GTX anywhere in the list when I try to manually install the drivers.
As a matter of fact, all I see are the 8300-8600 range.
drivers are a new tool in performace war?
imagine if nvidia castrate his drivers to see what the r600 is.......
distracting the enemy?
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
