I don't think so.

We know DFI NF4 series have many kinds of Bios. Try to find you think the stable Bios.

its 1.45V .. with overvolt option 1.55V or 1.65V, no?

0417 is a later build than Andre's, Andre's does still have issues with Infineon Dimms so you may want to be careful. Also the earlier builds are more limited in the PCIE tweaks so you will probably find the bios files are not as fast for 3D.

We still have the issue of boards not liking booting after flashing, this we think we have sorted out, so pleaase sit tight while Rgone and myself have the bios file tweaked a little to help with this issue.

For now if you flash the bios and the board has issues getting into bios or getting to windows after the flash drop me a PM detailing your issues, I may have a tool here that helps you.

I set up the computer w/o the w/c and was at 2.5 stable on air/stock voltage everything is fine no problems whatsoever using tony's bios update

the questions I have are..... what are the best memory timings for the memory I have? or a good starting point?

and what cpu voltage is increased to overclock higher? is it the CPU VID voltage in the genie bios and then using CPU VID special control?

Its 1.40 with my CPU and with a .200 overvolt the highest I've seen is 1.56 but it usually hovers at 1.55.

Ohh hmm well i can have 1.65V easily with 1.45V + 200, but of course its not needed in my situation.

The CFX goes upto 2.1v for the vcore, should anyone be that insane.

you need to always set TREF manually, I like 1560 at the mo. Read reamble and Asysnc latency also need to be set manually as auto sets 4.5 and 5 which is way to tight.

Start at 1.35-1.4, and see how far you can push it. I'm guessing you could probably get between 2.6-2.7 on stock voltage(between 1.35-1.4). If your lucky, you'll get around 2.8, since you say it's a good stepping.

After that, just take steps on voltage and test. Or, you can do it the gungho way and just take the voltage up to 1.55-1.6 and see your what your highest FSB can be. Then step it down gradually to that sweet spot.

Both of those VID controls are for voltage increase. The CPU VID are generic steps in voltage. The special control adds a percentage to the CPU VID setting, so that you can have more precise voltage control(and higher voltage than regular CPU VID options).

I actually already posted the same question in a sticky thread, but I'm posting i here too, because this might be the right place to post it also :)

I'm having the following issue with my setup, the CPU performance is very slow.. in 3Dmark06 I get about 1000 CPU points and in sandra CPU multimedia test the score is really crappy..

The X2 processor and SP2 patch are installed and the registry is modified.. but still no go!

Thinking back.. before my DFI board I was using the Asus A8R-MVP board and I had the same slow CPU performance issue with it..

Hmm.. this really is a hard one.. or maybe not :)

Any help is apreciated.

I had this board 2 days now still testing!!!

Some bugs I've found so far, sometimes the board into boots fine & the next it freeezes at post or in the bios!!!!, 216/233/250 mem dividers don't work!!! & I can't save the DRAM Data Drive Strength which is the killer

Same problems with stock bios, tony's bios & latest from DFI

Specs are -

Try flashing the bios 3 times, then using TMods bios cd from over at dfi-street load killcmos and do this a few times.

I have a feeling cmos reloaded is causing issues and only a thorough flash and cmos clear gets the board to perform right

Tryed this & still the b$$ch wont run the upper dividers & still can't save the Data Drive Strenght settings!!!!:stick:

I'm stuck at 250Mhz 1:1 but my mach will be back next week & I need the 250 mem divider because of the coldbug!!!!!

I'm glad I did not buy this (it isn't available at my location). I'll just stick with my trusty RDX200 until Conroe and supported enthusiast boards [DFI? Heh] arrive.

Me? After I got the 417 flashed correctly, aka clearing my reloaded banks and CMOS first, I have had zero issues. Right now, like you, I am doing splendid and don't feel the need to fix what isn't broke. I am going to relax and enjoy my rig for a while.

Weird, I'm not having these weird problems with my board like everyone else. I flashed through DOS (4/17) and haven't looked back. The only thing that sux is that 170 won't go past 2.7ghz. I can't really blame the mobo though, as it is probably the chip(CCBWE 0609FPAW).

I would probably have to watercool my system, which isn't happening, because this is the first computer I have ever assembled, and I'd rater get the hang of all the little nuiasances of OCing first, and then go all out on the liquid.

Got my two x1900XT's in there and running ok. :D I'm just running my chip at 2.6 before I try to OC it some more. When windows first starts everything is dog slow for many seconds. It's my first dual core. I thought it might be a bug. I'm running the AMD driver and MS hotfix, but no luck. 4/17 bios.

this board does have its quirks i must say. my ram cant run at 250 and stock timings, ati system manager freaks out when i try to run the clocks tab, and the board does an instant restart whenever i click on the sensor tab on everest home edition. the ram part is very weird, ive never had a board lock up on me like this one does, it passes dual prime for 8 hours, and dual super pi 32m, but it just freezes up in 3dmark, full hard lock num lock on keyboard not working, so strange. also, it hangs on post once in a while. but for all these quirks, overall its been a fun board.

Some FYIs....

ATI System Manager is not designed to support any board with anything other than an ATI southbridge, so it shouldn't be used on motherboards with the ULI 1575. Clockgen from TechPowerUp should have correct support for the ULI1575.

As for Everest, I've heard that there will be an update that will address the hanging problem.

I've fixed the problem with Data Drive Strength not saving its a bios issue!!! If I turn off the SATA controller in the bios I stops saving setting to Data Drive Strength!!!:stick:

I'm gonna test the 233 & 250 dividers to see if this is whats affecting the bios settings!!!!

Do these dividers look right, no!!!!:mad: Below are the 233 & 250 compared to each other, there only a 70Mb/s gain between the two & cpu-z detects the both at 233.3Mhz!!!!!

I want the highest bandwidth available for my benching sessions plus I use my modded mach 2 GT all the time & need the 250 mem divider to work properly & want the bandwidth i'm supposed to get!!!!

My advice? Skip the 6.4 driver and use the 6.3. Also try using the Sil controller over the ULi SB. Just locate it in the genie BIOS and select plain old sata. When you get back to windows it will recognize a new "mass storage device". Just answer yes to all its questions and it will download the "sata link" driver you need for normal sata use on the Sil. Not using the ULi SB got rid of my freezing with my theater 550pro. I use to get the same thing on nforce4 and I got around it by not installing the nvidia storage driver and using SATA 3|4. That tactic didn't work with the ULi.

The ULi SB is just an alternative work around and ideally we'd be using the SB600. If you are planning on AM2, wait. DFI supposed to have a CFX 3200 AM2 board with the SB600. Or last I heard.

I am using Crossfire. I watch TV, DVDs, game etc etc with no problems. People with DFI boards best clear their CMOS and blank all CMOS reloaded banks before they flash to the 417 BIOS or they are asking for problems. Once it is in as per Rgone's instuctions at the official forums, everything is great.

If you are using ULI raid there is an issue with data drive strength, this will effect your overclocking. I have informed DFI and they are looking into it.

For overclocking the memory the magic setting seems to be bus reciver impedance at 10, this allows me to clock the ram high with lower vdimm. Its all about drive on this board, get it right and it really does fly.

Your guide was very helpful to me. I am currently running this CPU higher than it ever has been on any board. It use to top at 2.76. Now I have 2.85 at 1t.

I am using drive strength 8, Tref 3072 (best I have found so far) and these settings.

Your screen shake sounds like a sync issue. The closest I have heard to it was one fellow that was using the 6.4 driver and something got out of whack when he was using "performance" driver settings in 3dmark06 so the "canyon flight" test was massively out of sync. He said he had to completely install windows again to fix whatever got corrupted.

I bought the cheapest master card I could find, it's a MSI. I can get 702|855 out of it with the fan on "hair dry" :p I use "overclocker" to dial it up 100%. Most of the time I just dial it up to XTX speeds to match my ATi XTX. Since the master does not down clock the XTX all I have to do is bump it up a tad.

I am kinda of disappointed I can't get by this wall in 3dmark06. I am stuck in the 9600s. Best I can get is 9661. I was hoping for 10k, and I don't think I am going to see that til my CPU can get closer to 3GHz. One nice thing though, this PC P&C 510 SLi PSU has held up even under all my overclocking. I thought for sure I'd have to replace it.

Sorry you are having troubles. Don't know what to say. I been playing the heck out of Oblivion with the "Chuck patch", no problems here. Hope you get it sorted out.

I really hope problem lies mainly in Asus mobos and maybe Asus gfx too, but then i seen some people who got it working on Asus mobo too. Kinda weird.

Has anyone tested this board in RAID-0 mode? I wanted to change my mobo after I saw the RD580's presentation (the 1.5GHz HTT impressed me) and I've been waiting for this mobo for long. I saw that the ASUS A8R32 mobo had many problems (both in this forum and overclockers.co.uk), so DFI was my only hope (can't find the Sapphire board anywhere near me). The fact is that I was ready to buy the mobo but yesterday I saw something that kinda shocked me.

I have 2x Raptor 74GB Raid0 hooked on the ULI controller with no problem, running rock stable and i find it fast, really fast, faster then any NF4 and Intel raid controller that i had before.

I am having trouble getting 250Mhz 2-2-2-5 stable on any of my UTT BH-5. I have gskill and ocz 3200 gold and I keep getting windows memtest errors and memtest 1.65 errors. I have tried DS @ DDS of 1-4 for both and nothing seems to help. I am running my sata on the ULI controller though so maybe it is what Tony is talking about. I did manage to clear alot of weird things up by resetting my cmos using killcmos and flashing 0417 bios 3 times in a row but my memory clocking is still kinda low at 230Mhz 2-2-2-5. Im sure its all in the settings, anyone have any suggestions?

No. Oblivion is great here. No issues. 6.3 cats and the "chuck patch" as of late. 4x AA + HDR and 16x HQ AF. So far I am loving Xfire. I rename the .exe AFR-FriendlyD3D.exe and click on it to start the game. That enables AFR Xfire support. Um, my raid 0 is hooked up through my ULI...can I just switch the sata connections to the Sil sata connections and preserve my raid 0 configuration?

Yeah i used that name of .exe too .. doesnt matter what catalysts i used, i seen flashy ground with that name. Most probably faulty card.

If i used fear or sam2.exe it was ok but then inventory or pause makes artefacts in background.

@Living: Your settings worked great! I can run windows memtest and memtest 1.65 at 250Mhz 2-2-2-5 just fine now but my comp randomly restarts now, my guess is that its a drive strength thing.

still messing with settings, but so far i love this mobo, third love in row .. err third DFI mobo that is :D

Just started playing with board and BH-5/UTT BH-5 ram - anyone notice even at 3.4v vdimm ram runs alot hotter on this board than DFI NF4 Ultra-D/SLI-D/SLI-DR series ? I'm talking like TCCD at 3.0v vdimm hot!

cant say i have but i have noticed that bh5 oc better on the m/b than my dr

2x 512MB OCZ PC3200 Gold UTT BH-5 @255mhz 2-2-2-5 7-14-2223 at 3.4v vdimm

Last night tested without the dual lcd thermal probes and only 2x40mm fans and modules would be scorching hot and test #5 would fail at 2nd to 4th loop with a handful of errors.

Decided to put my dual lcd thermo probe to work and attached it to the side of each of my 2x 512MB OCZ PC3200 Gold UTT BH-5 and use a thermaltake 90+ cfm 120x25mm fan to blow directly on the modules instead of my 2x 40mm fans.

Memtest86+ v1.65
5 loops of test #5 and temps already peak at
Dimm 1 module = 37.5C
Dimm 3 module = 32C

So far up to 90+ loops and no errors unlike last night!

Room temp between = 27.5C to 28.8C open desktop benching system setup.

Conclusion, Dimm 1 slot is a hot bugger and that with even 3.4v vdimm you better have at least 90cfm of fan cooling on your modules to keep memory modules' temps in check for stability!

I've only had my CFX3200-DR for about ~24hrs but so far results look promising http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=2629 with alot of tips and tweaks from Tony at OCZ it has helped speed up the learning curve - which is very steep due to the amount of bios settings to tweak!

working on figuring out 10x315HTT right now with dividers - anyone got any tips for >300HTT on dividers ?

My OCs are running shady on a known good OC'ing 170. Wish I could find someone using Micron 5bD's anymore. I know, patience and tweaking. Guess a good OC will have to wait for the weekend. :(

High HTT/FSB on divider tests.

Seems so far managed 366FSB/HTT as the highest i've been able to boot into windows. It needed LDT dropped from 4x to 3x though. Managed to push out an 8M time but windows frooze trying to save the cpuz validation file heh.

But seems 334FSB/HTT is fine with LDT 4x!. Haven't tried higher than 334FSB/HTT for now.

hmm thats weird ... well i only have FSB 300 but with LDT 5x .. so 1500Mhz and its rock stable.

guys i didnt reinstalled XP since i got DFI (before i got asus xpress 3200) but exactly once a hour, my PC froze, not entirely, but sound is repeating for like 10-15seconds then its fine for another hour, where could be the problem? it happened with asus too, but not so long and frequent.

I'm needing 0.1v more vcore windows on CFX3200-DR than on DFI NF4 for my Opteron 146 which did 3000mhz at 1.42-1.47v on DFI NF4 Ultra-D now needs 1.52v on CFX3200-DR ?

Same Opteron 146 CAB2E 0540FPMW on same water cooling setup = Corsair Hydrocool 200 with s478 to s939 adaptor which gives very consistent and repeatable mounting pressure every mount as you can see from below pic.

No, my 3700+ 0505 and my 4000+ 0505 are both running fine at 3ghz 1,39v under TTBT.

Just like in Nf4 ultra-d

Should I or should I not? I'm certainly no expert when it comes to tuning. It does seem like this is the best board for 939. So far no fried this burned that flames all over. It would be the last 939 anyone would need or want to play with.

You should.

It has a bit more of a learning curve than the Sapphire "Grouper", but IMHO it will clock better with a little TLC.

Seems with all things being equal the DFI will take your memory to a higher OC, granted it's a little spooky but with Tony's tweaks I have gone to a higher level.

eva2000 : try to increase HT Bus Receiver to 31, i needed this to hit HT Link 1500Mhz

Swapped to Opteron 148 CABYE 0543FPMW cpu as this will be the first cpu i test on Kayl's phase change unit on the CFX3200-DR platform. Might as well let them get acquainted with each other :)

Also decided to flash to the latest DFI official bios = 425 which loosened up the timings for Infineon based memory for better compatibility. This would be good for when i test 2GB OCZ PC4000EB Infineon based memory :)

Seems CFX3200-DR board needs a tad more vcore to do the same clock as on my DFI NF4 Ultra-D R.AD0 and DFI NF4 UT SLI-DR R.AB0 using same cooling and clocks 30-60mhz less benchable than the NF4 boards. It could be a memory setting i haven't yet tweaked since it's still early days.

There's a 4-5C hotter cpu under load on DFI UT CFX3200-DR maybe due to the higher vcore applied ?

still got shaky screen in 3D .. with new mobo and mastercard, i dont know what to do :-(

Definitely liking this board now both my FX-57 and FX-60 clocked better just a tad although better H20 cooling might be the reason heh

Though I don't have the same CPU - 4400+ X2 which I used to run over 2.8GHz w/ my former HydroCool200 :cool: - but I just started building my new rig today - no water yet, parts are here but needs assembly - and it's really weird: I'm at somewhere around 2.6GHz and 1.42Vcore + 105% playground is not enough for my Opty 175... :eek: I'll doublecheck, of course but looks dark...:confused:

This CPU never passed 2.76 on the ASUS A8N SLi Premium, ASUS A8R MvP, EPoX 9NPA+ SLi, and Abit AT8 32X. Now I am doing 2.84, so I am very pleased with my mobo so far. Too bad I will be dumping it soon as I can grab a Conroe.

I got this board and it wouldnt run stock. Ran SP 1m and it froze then rebooted on stock speeds. Returning it to Eggy, back on my Grouper. No matter what I can't seem to get anything else to replace it.

All round 32M recording breaking PBs for me with this board. Beat my old best dual 32M time of 24min 10/14s on DFI NF4 with this below time!

Also changed from 510W PCP&C SLI to 1KW PCP&C SLI psu :)

It's not a forgiving board, you have to pretty much set your memory right on for a good OC.... and i'm still working on my settings. :shrug:

I like my Sapphire also, but I guess it's time I stop leaning on the "auto" function.

I'm close but I think I need a little help.

I also have BH-5, CH-5, TCCD and UTT............all these settings are killing me!!

I think i'll stick with my UCC.

It should run fine at stock speeds. If a board won't even allow me to run at underclocked ram speeds and stock cpu speeds, its a problem already. Maybe I'm just unlucky and got a bum board.

Sometimes secondary ram timings are very aggressive, and vcore is undervolted.

Check your vcore with a DMM, and check all ram timings with A64 tweaker.

YUP!

Whatever your "stock" timings are you might need to back off a little bit.

You might want to check with someone that is using the same ram as you are....some of the timings need to be "set" other than auto.

"Stock" or auto does not run on this board, I thought it would but no joy. :slapass:

Memory settings are so important for a good overclock on this board.....not that I like it but I guess I need to get away from the "forgiving bios"

To many settings for me to try out, I need someone else to test them for me.

i raised vcore and did set some secondary timings. No go. Froze. If I can't get a baseline stable system, how would I know whether or not I can overclock? I'm using a 2gig set of OCZ gold w/uccc chips. I don't recall this particular memory having issues with the 417 bios.

OC Tony has a bios guide floating around at the Bleedingedge forums. It's got the 2GB gold and platinum memory guide on it. Let me now how it goes for you, because I don't think this board likes my memory that much, and I have exactly what you have.

I tried to put in some G.Skill PC4400 TCCD, and that didn't go good either:(

I already packed up the board and have it ready to be shipped back to Newegg. It doesnt like tony's tweaks. You should flash to the latest bios. It actually brought some stability.

Which one? 4/25? Or one of the betas?

Sorry it didn't work out for you. Are you just gonna replace the board, or just go a different mobo? You sure it wasn't the RAM that was screwed up?
