Judging by the scores it looks like the DFI used a FX 60 with ddr 400. I will try to duplicate it the best i can.
here is what they used.
We used AMD Athlon x2 4400+, OCZ Platinum rev. 2, two X1900XT in CrossFire configuration and a Western Digital Raptor WD360
I quess PC-A9RD580 is the Manta board according to Sapphires site. (PC=Pure Crossfire)
Yah but thats not the one that kaiser posted......His is of cinebench and its Sapphire boards against DFI.Quote:

It must be a fluke. I am sure you can match or beat the other boards. All the other scores are relatively close but that one.
Ok i got some OCZ plats ddr 400 and ill run a x2 cpu at 2.2 gig and see what it gets.
chew* ........ The RD580 seems to have huge gains over the RD480 when it comes to low end cards but not much improvement for the x1900's. Any chance you might have a couple to try out when you get the time? I am curious to see what kind of results you get in say 05' and 06'.
Well I have been talking to DUMO and it seems he's willing to lend me a master card to pair with my 1900xt for testing reviewing. There will however be no overclocking as It's not my card.
Also working on finding another x1800xt 512mb card capable of matching the clocks on my current card at 823/981 on good water. I'm curious to see X fire performance without the dongle.
Are you referring to single card solutions though?
No, I was waiting for Crossfire.
Any particular brand of X1800 you are looking for?
I know of a couple that are available.
I too would like to see with and with out dongle comparisons with the x1800's
Retail ATI or bust.
Any news on the LDT performance front?
Any thoughts yet why the board performed so badly on the cinebench test?
Will this board be priced more or less around the previous boards price?
yah the reviewers sucked? I got 752 with 9 x 300 with ram less than ddr 400 just now to test for you with something running in the background. I can't upload to my FTP atm because its down. I will try to match it at 2.2 gig and rebench........I'm sure that it will be on par though.Quote:

Pricing i'm not sure of. I've heard rumors from forum members that it will debut less than the rx 480 innovation but as i stated its rumors nothing i can confirm.
Not done with testing yet and i will put up cinebench scores i'm just testing multitudes or ram which takes alot of time in memtest than even longer in prime and once thats done still needs to be PI 32M stable and once thats done it still all needs to be realworld stable............
chew* nice find on the board and keep up the good work on this "new" board
Ok so i reran the bench at 315 x 7 x4 LDT.This gives me 2205mhz cpu 200 memory. Its as close as i can get with an x2 3800. Let's just say the question is not what happened to the sapphire reference board but more whats wrong with the DFI that they felt the need to TAMPER with the benchtest. I say tamper because i have the results in front of me But for some reason my FTP is still down. I will upload them soon as possible unless someone would do me the favor and host the screenshots i have.Quote:

Ok heres some OCZ 2 gig Plats ddr 400. Now i know they arent the greatest 2 gig kit there is but they do have a little headroom for overclocking. More importantly lets see how the board handles when highly overclocked with a 2 gig set.
For reference the key settings are 50% reduced dqs, normal drive, P/N drive strengths 6/6

Guys i should have some x1800xt's in mastercardless crossfire soon thanks to markr. Already had one but markr found me a second Retail ATI card that was affordable. Thanks again markr I owe you one.
I really want this new 580 board :( Chew can you test it past 333 htt please, max htt would be nice.
It's the least I could do in return for all the valuable help you have given us.Quote:

thx guys, my dfi ADO is nice, but only up to 333, anything more and the board starts flaking out (at anything past 3 gigs that is). Board just can't take it even though it's fully sinked and 120mm fanned. PWM area still just gets too hot for any stability past 3 gigs.
I already banged it up to 370 by 4xht fareast. Atm I'm running 9 x 323 x4x HT. Its stable as can be. I also banged out a 32M PI run at 3.2 gig. If you look through the pages.
Albeit the results were slow this OS is wiped due to some bad tccd and the fact that it's not a fresh install but a drive i swapped from the RX480 testing so pay no attention to times. I just atm don't have the time to do a fresh install. I will probably do that before i setup X fire.
For now though my regedit hacks will have to keep this OS up and running.
Not trying to rain on your impressively sick voltage screenie but this doesn't pertain to this thread. Please do not clutter it up with useless info.Quote:

Sounds like a plan. Just need to give me some maximum setting allowed rules. Etc if someone says don't put more than 1.6 volts thats all i put, also what kind of cooling allowed. My personal chips get the :slapass: though.
so long as it is still a dual core x2 4400+ when i get it back lol ( meaning just dont kill it ) ......
when i was running it, it was on very good water, but i never tried to dry ice it, or anything like that( too noobish for getting it cold sealed ) and i think the highest voltage i tried was around 1.625....
but it never went over 43-44c with the IHS removed after 1.58v or above.
yah with the stepping it has i would have to cold control it as it will prolly bug. If it doesn't move and if you send it, max volts will be limited to 1.625Quote:

Not cheap but tempted ...
Mine is the ATI reference version but yes that board is identical to this one.
Be warned that some EURO sites show pics of the highline model and sell the low line model. Namely make sure that its not the RD580 crossfire advantage which is the budget board
Here's a screenie for those interested in some ATI system manager option's. No need for a64 tweaker with this ultility.

Is there any reason, any good reason, why nVidia could not have offered the same type of tool? If ATI boards catch on like it looks they will how long until nVidia releases such a tool? Just rhetorical questions chew*, not really looking for answers. Plus I already think I know :)Quote:

basically what im say is, nvidia doesnt need to. they have already proven thier worth... ati is the new guy, and they are kick arse imho.
That makes sense, but is that a good reason? :) And now that ATI is here and does kick ass, how long until nVidia reference boards do overclock, and there are standard nVidia supported overclocking tools? This highlights why monopolies suck and competition makes the whole capitalist system go.Quote:

what nda? sapphire doesnt say when its going to be actually available, but the damn board is released already. its on the sapphire page, and on anandtech sapphire said its supposed to ship on the 20th, that happened...Quote:

Your missing the point......I have been asked numerous times when it will be released and have not answered.......If the answer is out there fine.....Asking me will get you no where however.....And if the board isn't on the market yet which it appears to not be then it isn't released.........apparently they are taking preorders......Quote:

Manta is available in the UK from Ebuyer, its sapphire branded and is RevB
Sapphire promised me a retail version, if it arrives i will compare 1:1 with the ATI Es sample....
I have a friend there TONY, We ordered one. He got an email that they were taking preorders......I also purchased one yesterday, the stock # did not change.....I cancelled the order after he called them to confirm it.
I will have a friend of mine call monday, i was told they were actually in stock and available.
Keep an eye on komplett also they sell sapphire from the german disty's
Stock has changed at eBuyer, it's on Komplett's system & it's showing in lots of places in Europe

Awsome. weird though. wonder if they hadn't processed a received shipment when he called.Quote:

Hey chew, PC Partner will likely lock all overclocking options out of the bios. Unless there is a reference bios they can use, as there were no options in their xpress 200 boards for overclocking.Quote:

hey, i glanced through a few pages and didnt find any info, does the board have 3 or 4 phase power?
4 phase. It actually works really good to. Temps don't get out of hand and overclocking dualcores is a breeze.Quote:

I will be watching for the x1800xt coming like a hawk now..........as I already took about a $150 dollar loss today in hardware.........

Yah that's what's gonna happen from now on.....I had my mailing options changed. Its a PITA though that i have to do that now. I'm working on getting another set........Sucks though to have to spend enough for a 2 gig set just for some testing purposes.
Exactly. How many people in a one mile radius would recognize a water block for what it is, let alone have a use for it? Totally senseless. The RAM has wider application but even still. That just suxxorsQuote:

Any way a little update. My second x1800xt 512mb card arrived today and is available for pickup tommorow at 10AM after recent mailing preference changes. Tccd will probably arrive next monday I'm guessing. Should have results sometime tommorow for the x fired x1800xt's.
I'm hanging out for this as it will dictate where a lot of my money will go :p: I have a 256mb x1800xt on its way now, and will be getting that sapphire board and another identical card if they perform for chew* ... I have a feeling I should save quickly :toast:Quote:

2x1 gig OCZ plats ddr 400 2-3-2-5
seasonic S12 500 watt PSU
ATI reference manta (obviously)
2 X retail ATI x1800xt's 512mb
First will be stock scores.
Second will be with cpu at 2.9 gig to eliminate the bottleneck of cpu.
Third if the new card cooperates will be OC'ed (my original card does 823/981)
What GPU coolers are you going to use?
Well the one Has the Zalman Gaytality and the other stock ATI cooler.Quote:

I'll stand by my seasonics :) It's just for testing anyway. I never planned to run x fire 24/7
Does going xfire reduce ur overall cpu overclock?
is the xfire without mastercard working
Still waiting to hear from ATI. There's quite a few settings in Bios i'm not to familiar with.
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...uctCode=249402
It's almost here:slobber:
A little pricey though. Should come down with time I hope.
They can waite till I spend that much on that board especially since there is no advantage being able to use higher LDTs ... with Amd cpus its all about the final cpu Ghz not how you get there
Who evr buys these boards for that much is a FOO :)
It wont be that price when it finally shows up. ZZF likes to do that for products they dont have so no one would actually buy them. If they do have like a few in stock, like one or two they would still keep it at that high of a price. Afterall, there are very stupid people in this world. It will be waaay less than that when it hits Newegg and stock becomes plentiful.
It's slightly dearer than the A8R32-MVP in the UK (1 place with stock lists £140 & another £149).
The A8R32-MVP is ~£125-£130
I swear theres a conspiracy to keep me from testing tccd on this board. Check this out..........
Sent........Tracking # for www.USPS.com
0306 0320 0001 1247 3756
Still hasn't arrived..........
As far as x1800xt results they are on hold for the moment, I need a better PSU, apparently 2 x1800xt's eat more juice then 2 x1900xt's.
Don't they have higher stock volts? BTW chew, have you played with any of the PCI-E options such as max watts per slot? I'm wondering if juiceing up the power to the slot could help out those people that have cards without power connectors.Quote:

Damn you, I just ordered one. Not sure why.
Sorry Situman. I had to get one also if that makes you feel any better.:D
$100 less than the DFI too.
I had to get one also me three
for $134 bucks! That's a real real real bargain. I just hope we get MORE than what we paid for. In this day and age, that price is considered to be budget board territory. I hope I didn't get a bling bling budget board. From initial results, it seems solid other than some bios issue.
Damn, I was so close to hitting the checkout button - then my senses came back to me, as I don't need more motherboards laying around my appartment lol.. but now I am think how cool it was to actually be able to control vcore voltage and all that other stuff via ati's cool utility.... hmmm
Edit: damn you's, I ordered one too lol
Now I gotta sell my Grouper. I hate selling and shipping stuff.
